Unsolicited advice on duplicate key fobs (2023 F150 Lightning Lariat)

Hmm. Maybe you got a dud? I have done with with multiple AliExpress keys without issue. I also helped another forum member with his (making a 3d printed key card) and I don’t think he had any issues with programming his. I’ve never done a return to AliExpress, but you could try. I’d probably just order another with how cheap they are. Oh, did you make sure to get the right frequency? You can program the wrong frequency, and it will work in your cup holder spot to start the vehicle, but otherwise it will not. See if it starts the vehicle in the cup holder. If it does, this is likely the case. I did this, as well on accident, and I keep that as a backup hidden in the truck. I figure worst case if I lose my key, I can unlock the truck, find this fob, put it in the cup holder spot, and start the truck to get back home. I like this one being in there, because if it is found, it would seem like it is non functional any way. I also husked the pcb from the original fob case and put it in a 3d printed case, so it doesn’t look like a fob if found.

That’s what I’m thinking but it helps to have confirmation! I was aiming to do that 3d printed mod as well so this is a bit of a bummer but happy to try again. Aliexpress returns are a little tricky but it’s no problem haha. I’m fairly certain I got the right spec one but do you have a specific link and model you could send me? I’ll give it another go and see what happens!

Oh cool! Mine has been no issues so far, so likely you got a dud, then. I love not having to carry a key. I think I’d have even done this if I had PAAK after reading the horror stories of it all of a sudden not working and the passcode not working either. Once you get it programmed, if you run into any other issues, let me know!

On my 2023 XLT, there isn't a key duplicating slot I can find. The cup holders don't remove. Maybe the XLT doesn't have this feature? My 2023 XLT was made 9/27/23, and the fob is 315 mHz.
A picture of the slot might help, if this lighting is supposed to have one. Thanks!

Manual doesn't say anything about which version of truck has it, so I assume they all do. I know my Lariat does. It's under the rubber bottom in the cup holder.

Super helpful! The previous posts said remove the upholder cover - didn't mention the rubber bottom And my truck manual didn't have this information.

Yes, the XLT does have that slot. I'll try and program another fob.

Yes! It programmed the new Ford fob I'd paid just under $80 for, including tax, on eBay.
Don't know if this made a difference, but the first time I inserted the smaller end of the fobs down, and it didn't program the new one - the second successful procedure I'd put the small ends up.

Thanks a lot!! Always good to have a spare, especially since programming requires 2 working fobs.
