Would there be a way for me to check? I have ABRP but not premium. Torque Pro uses bluetooth to speak to my OBDlink MX+.

On the Mach-E if you use Apple Maps it can pull SoC data directly without any OBD dongles via CarPlay.

I just tried to get this to work in the Lightning but no joy for me.

I don’t think the MX works with ABRP. You need a BLE-compatible reader like the OBDlink CX.

I have the OBDlink CX and it works great with ABRP and CarScanner on my Android phone.

I originally tried the Veepeak OBDcheck and Vgate Vlinker BLE OBD readers. The Veepeak would not link with ABRP and the Vlinker froze frequently and needed resets.

I haven’t had a chance to use ABRP live data on any road trips since I got the OBDlink so I can’t vouch on the accuracy of the app.
Thanks for the heads up - just canceled my order and will try this instead. I went down a rabbit hole of research and forgot the BLE part that apparently is critical. I think I changed because I was seeing "Bimmercode" in the CX and didn't see Ford listed there.

I used an OBDLink MX (not MX+) on my Model S for scanning. The MX does not work on the Lightning. Seeing that, I bought an OBDLink CX this weekend and tried it out with ABRP. It works. I'm using Android Auto and not CarPlay, but that shouldn't matter.

Thx for confirming. My CX should arrive on Tuesday and will try w/ my iPhone, but like you said it shouldn’t matter.

Interesting... what is it about BLE (vs. standard BT as used on the MX+) that results in ABRP only being able to use it? I looked through a few sites but it didn't give me that answer.

(I have left my MX+ plugged into my truck since last week and unlike my other ICE vehicles, it doesn't seem to be a big battery drain, lol.)

Installed my CX today in my Lightning…it connects. The OBDLiknk app is not much use as the provided standard vehicle configurations are all ICEs or hybrids. They do allow there Dashboards to be customized, but you have to know which PID codes you want to monitor. Any one have a list of the Lightning PID focused on battery (SoC, discharge/charge rate, etc) their willing to share??

This was my last email with OBDLink support:

CarScanner works great with the OBDlink CX. A perpetual license is only about $5 and they also have a time-limited free version.

I've been using Torque Pro with it.

I've also been playing around with ABRP, and from what I'm reading online, it seems like ABRP needs to add OBDLink into the vehicle profile. I couldn't get it to come up with the option to use OBD information in the alpha profile they're using in the latest Android version (4.2.9?)

ABRP was really fiddly when I was asking to add my OBDLink CX adapter. It took a minute or two and some colorful language. I think "F'ing BS" worked. You may also try unplugging and plugging the adapter back in right before you attempt to add the adapter to ABRP. There is only a small window (maybe 30 seconds?) when it will pair with a device. This is so some stranger can't just walk by your truck and pair with it.

I was able to get the CX to connect to ABRP today on iOS free version… I plan testing it on a half-day drive on Friday.

I’ve seen some discussions about concerns with leaving the CX installed on an ongoing basis. The CX’s Power indicator illuminates solid with the vehicle ignition in the ON and ACCESSORY modes. After I turned the ignition OFF and left it sitting ~1 hour, I noted the CX’s Power light intermittently flickers, and the OBD and Bluetooth indicator are not illuminated….I’m wondering if it’s gone into a power saving mode????

Screenshot taken with ignition OFF…..

Do you use Android? For the life of me, I can't even find the option! I've set up my vehicle, but I don't see the option to add the adapter.

Yes, Android here. On the ABRP home screen, tap the ABRP icon in the top left, then tap the "Ford F-150 Lightning Extended Range (Alpha)" box under Plan Settings. Then tap "Edit settings."

When you get to this point, start thinking of swear words. When I started, I only had the "Other live data sources" option visible. It was pretty flaky. I think I may have even disconnected my phone from Android Auto at some point to see if it was interfering. Eventually you will hopefully get the option with the box that says "Link ABRP OBD Connection." It will then scan for your adapter and you can select it. It's pretty much smooth sailing from there.

Edit: this is all done on your phone BTW, not the Android Auto screen. There are almost no options on the AA screen.
