What’s up door fam. Got down to 18 here in IL today and my previously silent door is on the move again. Now, I’m sure it’s because of the temp. Should probably grateful the last fix worked…but I’m wondering if moving the striker a small amount would wrap this door situation up? Has anyone move the striker and if so, any tips?
Strike that striker idea. I just adjusted the door on the bottom. Moved it slightly outward and this moved the top of the door further inward. The adjustments using the two bolts now has the driver door closing just as snugly as the other doors. It’s 15 degrees out and just took a drive to test. Like a vault :) This really nice vehicle just got even nicer. Have driven EVs since 2016. Multiple models from VW, Chevrolet, Tesla, and Rivian. This is without a doubt the best made EV I’ve owned. Best suspension by far and that includes the air versions from Tesla and Rivian. Such a surprise. And don’t get my started on the interior fit and finish. This Lightning takes 1st place.

2024 Lariat ER with 300 miles on odo. My driver's door is doing this and it's enough to drive me crazy. I am not mechanically inclined and have bad luck so I'm afraid to adjust the door myself. It's going to my dealer's bodyshop next week. This is my first Ford and unfortunately not a great first impression. I'll update after the body shop visit.
Good luck at the dealership. I would directly ask them to adjust the doors according to the method discussed in this thread. This method is truly the fix. If they don’t complete the fix, I’d suggest getting a friend to help. It’s not too bad honestly.

Best of luck. I had the dealership look into this issue for me, they even called in an aerodynamics specialist from Ford (supposedly).

Zero change

One wrench, one bolt (that you don't even take out), and two minutes later it was fixed.

If you want i could try and take a video for you.
If you could take a video, that would be awesome! What's really holding me back is once I would unloosen the bolt, I can't visualize how I would "move" or manipulate the door to get it closer to the frame.

Ok. So 2 pics. First wide shot of the 2 hinges on door. Then the closer on is the top hinge with my meat nugget pointing at it. That’s the one. Just loosen that one very little and that will allow the door to pivot in on the top half. I would suggest just moving it in a small amount then tighten and go for a ride to see if it’s better. Mine had to just pretty much go all the way in. Before I did this you could see the top half of the driver door sitting proud of the rear door. Now it’s flush.

Thank you for posting this! I have the same vertical rub sound with some wind buffering when I hit rough road and I think this will fix the problem!!

Thank you for the pics and solution. I had to use a 13mm socket on mine, the 10 was too small but it fixed the problem. You were right, only loosen it a bit. I went a bit too much and had to re-balance the whole door. Whoops

Just adjusted the door and is nice and snug. I now notice just a slight sag in the door and need to get that nudged back up a hair. Can you describe how you were able to do this? Sounds like you also had the door move up or down as well as the side to side motion that actually seals the door up/resolved the issue. Thanks for the time and help!

Thanks for putting this up. I have the same issue.

Just to ask a dumb question, when in the video you say "towards you" what does that mean exactly?

If the door is fully open so it is nearly perpendicular with the truck side, and you loosen that bolt, it looks like you would move the door horizontally along the direction of the side of the truck towards where you are standing.

Is it easy to see how much it's moving from it's original position? It doesn't seem like that bolt hole should offer more than a millimeter or two of slop tolerance.

Mine is doing the same thing with only 1000 miles on it. When I drive it down dirt or gravel roads is when the noise/chatter is evident from the upper drivers door frame.

I thought about adjusting the door striker in to tighten it up, but don’t want to misalign the exterior, this one is currently perfect. My last Lariat that I traded in on this Lightning was atrocious in regards to panel alignment and it always bugged me.

I’m going to try to shim out the weatherstripping a little up too and see what happens.

I’ll be interested to see your outcome - my door is also perfectly aligned and I don’t want to undo that if I don’t have to, but I will given that I live in a rural area and I’m constantly on rough roads.

Thank you! This weather strip itch noise has been driving me crazy for 8 months. Right in my ear from the top of the driver side door. Took me 30 seconds to fix.

I had the exact same issue on my '24 Lariat @ the driver's door. The door would move slightly as i rolled over bumps and it was driving me crazy. I could literally pinch the door to the door seal with my hand as I drove and make the problem go away so I knew it was a matter of adjusting the door. I was able to easily fix this per the instructions above. Loosen the bolt on the top hinge/door side with a 13 mm wrench. There is a little adjustment, pull the door toward the cab of the truck ever so slightly ( maybe 1/16"), retighten the bolt. Voila! I'm cabinet maker, the door adjustments on the truck are similar in concept the the modern Euro cabinet hinge. It's really quite simple. Thank you to everyone who posted above.

You should not have to shim anything out. Lots of posts here on how to fix this issue, just need a 13mm wrench and 5 min. Really easy, fixed mine in no time. Good luck.

Having same issue on my truck I just picked up 2 days ago. Devastated, as I sold my 1 year old Model X becuase of rattles. Lightnings are supposed to be rattle and noise free.
