That reminds me, I have to maintain my brakes! Someone suggested this monthly.

Put it in N and stop with the brakes. Scrapes all the potato bugs off the rotors that I never use.

So much maintenance to remember! ?

That's about it.

Might be good to give the truck a nice 'cold reboot', if you will. Disconnect the 12v battery for 20 minutes or so, then reconnect it. I've started to do this quarterly (coming up soon).

I may do this, this weekend. Just like my smart phone, smart watch, my PCs... an occasional reboot never hurts.

I've had my "24 Flash for less than 2 months now. So far... my favorite vehicle I have owned. On Friday, the yellow wrench symbol appeared on my dash followed by a message that read," powertrain malfunction/reduced power- A powertrain or 4-wheel drive fault has been detected." I tried to make an appointment at my local dealer but can't get it in until next week. Today, I started it up and the wrench symbol and messages were gone. My question is: do the warnings, cautions and symbols go away after cycling the ignition on and off so many times? BTW the truck runs great, nothing appears to be wrong with it.
Thanks
Tino

Finally got to the dealer. Problem is related to a fault with the gear shifter. Apparently, this a common problem with all ford trucks, not just the Lightning. The dealer said they would overnight the part and try to install tomorrow or Wednesday. About 3 weeks ago I couldn't shift from park to drive, I turned the truck off and on and was able to drive away. It only happened once. Apparently, there is a Technical Service bulletin about this problem.

This sounds better than a bad battery module. But there’s a whole other discussion about the GSM ( gear shift module?) that’s been popular this week too.

Is the gear shift module issue specific to model year - if so which years?

I saw this TSB for 2021 F-150 ICE
TSB 21-2141

Get Forscan, I got that same message, "Powertrain malfunction/reduced power - A powertrain or 4-wheel drive fault has been detected." First time last month and it is unsettling. After scanning and reading some other posts it is likely just a bad shifter and in my case only on very hot days. Hopefully the dealer will order the part before i take it in for replacement. I also had full 100% power available each time it happened and letting the truck sit off over night resolved the orange wrench, but so far it keeps coming back on hot days.

My dealer replaced the GSM and I haven’t seen the wrench of doom since!

Just got back from having my shifter replaced for the second time in 15 months. What I'm wondering is if Ford came out with a new revision of the GSM over the past year. I've noticed that the new shifter is much more smooth and much less "grindy" sounding that the first two I had. It's almost nice. ;-) Seems like they have improved the motor mechanism in the shifter. I have an Escape rotary shifter ready for install but I may hold off until the truck goes out of warranty. The new shifter seems significantly better than the previous ones, so there may not be a reason to change it out immediately. I'll save the rotary for when it dies a third time in 2027.
