How often do you actually use the 9.6 kw pro power on board?

funny

my wife ordered her an interesting 'USB-charged battery-powered CURLING iron'
for her car, while she 'travels'...

really?

I told her we had an outlet, if not MANY outlets, in our truck... full 120v outlets.

"oh", she said, "I got this for my EV9"...

well... I said, "Dear, you have an outlet in the car, too"....

oh well.

Yes, house backup but more.. to charge hand portable tools, run a small 120V compressor, chop saw, reciprocating, grinders. Might as well use the good old corded tools. My older farm has limited power and its very useful there. A reel or swing out cord reel that could reel up 100’ w/3 receptacles would be nice or maybe a heavier cord to a separate utility panel on a transfer switch. That’s the ideal.

To be honest something like the 9.6 Pro Power is one of the biggest selling points of this truck. It's very sad Ford doesn't include it on every one. If they've got to reduce value and raise prices then things like the scales are the easiest and most gimmicky things to get rid of. Of course I think they've done both.

Any sense of the savings realized by going this route?

How much does your battery deplete during the day?
Only been doing this for about 17 months but between $1,200 - $1,500 per year depending on how hot the summer is. This time of year when I'm not running any AC it uses about 12% per day.

Obviously my approach won't work if your Lightning is your daily driver or if you don't have time of use rates.

I use it all the time. @Ford Motor Company please please please make a way to have just pro-power on and nothing else and run it from the app! I manage a farm and I cant tell you how often we need to go out and run tools, charge the drone, weld, charge the batteries for the electric fence, run the wells when the power is out etc etc. Just last night the BIG tractor had some battery issue that drained them down and would not start. It is a long way away from any other power source. It has a bank of 8 (i think) batteries and would take a massive effort to leave a truck running to charge, or pull the batteries and bring them in to charge. I just left the truck in the field overnight with the pro-power on (dont forget to turn off the timer! @Ford Motor Company it would also be great to be able to have more options there) It took 20% of the charge to bring it up to 75% but I wonder what it would be if everything other than pro power was off. I cant remember if I turned heat off etc.
Its still charging, so I had to run the backup to check on it. Could not resist the photo..

Others can - just no SW update for you and me. This was promised when the '24's came out and the option was added, but no love for the older trucks. Maybe after they get BC 1.4 out they will get all these past releases caught up, but I'm not holding my breath.

I can't get the color I want and the 9.6 kw option :(

Just curious if many of you ended up using it. Initially I was hoping to use the 7.2 kw outlet to backup my house in a power loss event, but I am now getting powerwalls due to great incentives. Still, I was hoping to have this as a backup backup option if my powerwalls mess up or get depleted and my solar panels are completely covered by snow.

Other than that I am not sure if I would use it much, but having a 240v outlet on hand seems cool. Though I'd probably use it for bitcoin mining before I use it with any tools haha. I'm likely not going to tow and trailers or RVs too, though it does sound cool (if we get serious about camping we'll probably just start with a truck cap and mattress or something since it's just 2 of us)
in 1 1/2 years we have lost power twice. Pro Power to the rescue!

I actually got my powerwalls installed a few months ago, I've had 2 outages since then and didn't even notice! The automatic switchover is very impressive.

This was the only option I wanted on my Flash 24 , I got a few other ones, as they were paired with this one ie tire upgrade and bedliner and mats, and I m happy all those were included, I have plugged in a few times , but never using anything beyond the 2.4 kw standard, but if we lose power for 24 hours and are able to do okay at home with power from the truck it would have been worth it. How much does a generator box addon to your breaker run?
