I'm giving up on the Toyo EV tires. Called Discount to check on the status and now they tell me there is only 1 available and no ETA on the back order. Not sure how others managed to get them, luck I suppose. I wanted some A/T but don't want the hit on efficiency so I guess I'm looking at some standard road warrior treads now. Maybe there'll be a nice Black Friday deal in a few weeks.

Any thoughts on the E, SL, XL, LT versions of the Toyo Open Country AT3 EVs? LT is a stronger tire, but I won’t be rock crawling or towing much. Just light off-roading on dirt trails. Camping with a bed tent, etc. Been getting real confused with all the versions of this tire. Is the XL 116T I’m seeing advertised now the same as the SL? And LT the same as E? Any and all advice/info is welcome. About to get some of these and trying to see if I would be good with the 275/60R-20 116 XL.

Need new tires but I'm so torn...

Practical route: Michelin - Defender LTX M/S2 275/50R22/XL are $1300 at Costco

• Cheapest option
• Hate the smaller sidewall and weight/inefficiency of the 22"

Splurge: Toyo AT3 EV 275/50R22/XL are $2400 at Discount Tire

• Awesome looking tire
• Still dealing with silly 22s

Really want: Toyo AT3 EV 275/70R18 are $1340 at TireRack

• Not finding any 18" wheels I like with +44 offset
• 2" more sidewall for smoother ride
• Even with less aerodynamic wheel, weight/moment-of-inertia change should help range

Compromise: Toyo AT3 EV 275/60R20 $1600 at TireRack

• A little more sidewall
• TireRack has some Ford Performance wheels for $1300 or there are several 20" Lightning wheels locally on Craigslist

I am getting a set of 4 Toyo AT III EV 116H installed today on my Rivian R1S and will report back with some efficiency and handling/grip reviews.

I chose this because of the 116H rating / AT EV tires / Price.

I had to work with an associate at Discount Tire after ordering the tires to get them from a different store and have them shipped via Fedex next day at no charge. These SL tires are in low stock compared to the LT version

The 1-5 days shipping time was accurate for me. I did call my local store to make sure they can order it or get it from another warehouse / store.

Just driving 4 miles I got 1.92 mi per kWh. I would expect this to go up once I’ve driven 20+ miles instead of short trips.

I’ll drive more tonight and report back with proper efficiency numbers and once i get all tires to 50 lbs hot.

they didn’t mention anything and at least up to 60 mph it was fine. I need to get it aired up to 50 lbs hot and take it on the highway.

I have a good Diacount Tire shop that I go to when I have a hard time balancing tires at other shops.

Discount tire uses hunter road force balancer and those seem to really help with AT tires.

Yes for sure. Even Rivian uses road force at all their service centers to help with AT tire vibrations.

I love Hunter Road Force balancer pretty much available at most discount tires and most bays have now been converted. I remember the days when only 1 or 2 machines were road force balancer.

Factories / high end tire shops uses a similar road force balancer to try to get the tires down into the teens for the least amount of steering wheel vibrations / body / seat vibrations.
