I thought GM had ditched Car Play too, but have a friend that bought a new Sierra Elevation and he has it.
Believe only the lower specs have it.

42k miles on it.. It sits a lot now with the Lighting.. but that 21 5.0 I could have welded the hood shut. Been solid.. especially with all the stuff I have done to it.. put it through..

I did put a new 5g Modem in the 21. the 21 will be here forever though :like:
Next month marks 4 years with my 2021 and it only has 23,500 miles on it. Now that the 2024+ can be tuned, a new truck with the new OS is something I would strongly consider.

What do you mean tuned?

Even in the promo video the interface looks laggy when she's scrolling. Absolutely zero excuse in this day and age for the UI to be slow and clunky and running at 15fps.
Cheap cpu and gpu most likely.

This is Ford's way of telling everyone that "we don't do software".
It's sad because even in Sync 4, all of the critical data is there, it's just not organized well.

No one would care for CarPlay or Android Auto if they experienced native OEM software properly (e.g. Tesla and Rivian), and I dislike how google is such a pervasive part of our lives (and in our vehicles). One of the reasons why went with the Lightning over Hummer EV, Silverado, and Sierra was because of google automotive.

I was originally shopping Rivian but the lack of Carplay was hard to justify when spending that much money. I avoided options that exclude it on principle.

Chatted with a regional director of Rivian while traveling and said that once Scout launches, which will use Rivian software AND have CarPlay, that he expects Rivian will add CarPlay then.

Excluding something as basic as integrating with THE THING we all use all day is woefully shortsighted, especially when the vehicle itself “has an APP!”.

Until now if the auto UI is done well and includes integrations you would never even have thought about needing CarPlay (I'm talking about Tesla - miss their UI and SW everyday).

However now that the lawyers are backing off and video is going to be allowed while not moving and most every app will be available on the truck screen, the tipping point may finally be coming where I get something additional from CarPlay that I didn't get without it.

I wonder if they’ll keep Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto, or do away with it like GM did.
I can speak for Apple Car play but Android Auto def not going no where, it looks like the whole system is powered by Google!!!!

Thank you for the update. Thats better than GM at least...
Have you tried the GM interface? It is surprisingly good - even with the carplay/aa delete - it's good enough fro me to want to learn how to use it - way more responsive than AA or carplay.

Yes since we also have an equinox EV. It’s not bad but I miss the ease of casting music through CarPlay. Yes I know there are ways around it, but the quality sounds off.
