My wife just got me this adapter for my birthday and I can’t seem to find any reference to it here. In the little instructions that came with it, it calls it a Vortex adapter. That seems to be what Lectron calls theirs, but this is branded as LH or LJH. She bought it off Amazon (of course) and said that there were positive reviews from other Lightning owners there. I’m generally suspicious of Amazon reviews, so I figured I’d check here to see if anyone had any opinions. Thanks in advance.

I would return it. Using a cheap Chinese adapter is not going to end well.

I just found a video from Branden Flasch where he covered some different adapters. He has one from a company called Yomile and it looks exactly the same as mine, except it says LJH instead of Yomile. It doesn't have an interlock switch on the NACS side.

And now this video from someone I'm not familiar with and it's actually the exact adapter that I have. She manages to charge her Ford Transit and doesn't seem to have any issues. Thoughts?

I think the most relevant question here is how is The Wife going to respond to you wanting to return a reasonably thoughtful birthday gift.

High voltage/high current electricity is one thing, but this person is one invasive thought away from murdering you in your sleep.

Believe me, that's definitely under consideration! ;)

I have a script for such matters:
'Hey, I poured you this glass of wine, because I thought you might like to have a random glass of wine. Anyway, about that adapter...'

Another red flag was that I could find only one Vortex labeled adapter on Amazon and it was the Lectron version. 🤷‍♂️

You must decide between being suffocated by a pillow while you sleep or melting a cheap knockoff adapter to your $60,000 truck.

I say save the truck. Get a real adapter.

No interlock is a Non Starter! If it gets unplugged while charging it extremely dangerous.

I would suggest you check out Tom’s reviews on YouTube. He is the source for all things charging.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. And I've been watching his review of the Grizzl-E Ultimate 80A this morning after someone here recommended it. Now I just need to get an electrician over here to find out whether or not I have room for a 100A circuit.

In the meantime, if I'm going to return this adapter, does anyone have one that they recommend?

I like the Grizzle EVSEs, but the 80 Amp is not going to do anything that a 48 Amp Grizzle can’t for you, unless you have 2022 or 2023 MY. After 2023 the Lightnings (other than special request Pro version ) only charge at 48 Amp max AC.

You definitely want the a2z, lectron, or the ford OEM adapter.

Don't mess around with fast charging man.

I've got the A2ZEV Typhoon pro, and the original Ford adapter. I'm happy with both, but would buy the A2Z again in a heartbeat. Solid.

The top 2 on the market are A2Z and Lectron. A2Z is less expensive, especially if you buy direct instead of Amazon. They also sell a Tesla Destination adapter, which is for hotels and private homes. Code FORDFORUM will get you a 10% discount. A2Z Typhoon Pro and A2Z Stellar. https://a2zevshop.com/products/nacs-ccs1?ref=Typhoon&variant=43186507579592
