Questions from new Lightning owner

Would appreciate any clarification from those in the know. Pictures attached.
1. I see two different battery temperature gauges at the top of the instrument cluster and they never move. One battery is vertical and one battery is horizontal. Does anyone know which one measures what and if it is normal for them to always be in the middle of the normal range whether it’s cold or hot outside?
2. In reviewing the screen that shows which areas of the truck used energy on the most recent trip, there’s one that says “external temperature”. That does not make any sense to me. Does anyone know what that’s measuring?

1. two different battery temperature gauges :

LEFT is the BATTERY PACK, Right is the MOTORS temperature. As long as either are within the 'range', you're fine. Your Motor temp is showing slightly above 'average', which is not uncommon, and still well within range.

2. “external temperature” :

OUTSIDE temperature puts demands on the BATTERY COOLING or HEATING system, and therefore POWER to provide that cooling, or heating...

Now that I actually know what that is, I can kind of see how they intended it to be a motor. I was thinking they were both battery related.
