You were able to get 270 miles of range from a PRO SR & pulling a trailer? I thought the SR battery only provided about 240 miles of range with a normal load.

You missed the "... and a few stops".

Oh wait, yes, I see that now. So, how many miles did you get with the trailer before the 1st of the few stops? :)

The best thing is no oil or gas spill on the beach from an ICE vehicle!

up to about 130-140 miles with the camper, at about 1.3-1.4mi/kwh at 100% from home.... but, remember that DC Fast Chargers are never 'exactly' where you need them to be, for the greatest RANGE before you need to recharge - you have to stop where THEY are...

- 75 miles to Tifton
- 55 miles to Homerville
- 62 miles to Folkston
- 55 miles to the beach destination

yes, if you could actually stop to recharge at almost ZERO, then, yes, you'd only have one 'stop'... but, that's not how life works... there is no charger 'exactly' at 130-140 miles.

could you 'stretch' some of these stops to avoid one? maybe, but you have to also remember that every DC Fast Charger location 'might' not be operational, when you arrive... so, you have to plan, otherwise... for instance, the Circle K Dc Fast Chargers in WAYCROSS, GA were showing as 'under repair', so, otherwise we would have gone directly from Tifton to Waycross, but this put Homerville and Folkston into the plan. All in all, it's good to have the numbers of chargers along the way, even if going 'out of the way', even slightly, is what it takes to make it happen.

the Pro's 100kw battery pack also makes these calculations of 'range' even easier...

interesting, too, as today, as we parked on the beach, another family parked next to us, with four children, all girls, from 3 to 12... I struck up a conversation with the father... he then asks me how I 'like' my LIGHTNING... well, duhhhh! I told him I loved it. He asked a few more questions about 'range', of course, and how towing the camper worked out, etc...

then, he proceeds to tell me that he is the lead engineer for BMW's TELEMATICS team in Greenville, SC... the conversation took a little different direction after that... and, an hour later.... you get the idea. He was VERY interested in my views of how the LIGHTNING works, and how it 'stacks up' to other vehicles, as he saw that we also had the newer KIA EV9 parked next to it. He realized that a couple with TWO EVs, as their only vehicles, was definitely 'into' the electric vehicle 'thing'... : )

Cool! Thank you for the breakdown. I long for the day when these trucks get over 500 miles per charge with a camper or boat in tow. Hopefully very soon. Thank you for the breakdown and range info. I luv my truck I just wish it had a bit more range, like 400-500 miles, with cargo.

I know I am digging up an old thread here, but I am considering trading my Lightning (22 ER Lariat) for an EV9 (2026 GT-line) and wondered if you had any thoughts or advice. I will absolutely miss the truck bed for home projects, but I think the EV9 will be superior for road trips and around town / commuting duties.

The EV9 is definitely a capable family carrier. We looked at one its first year of release, but settled on its smaller sister, the EV6.

Just be sure and do your homework so you know what issues may be lingering.

If you don’t need a third row, the soon to be on sale Volvo EX60 and BMW ix3 will both have +4000lbs towing and available larger batteries than the EV9 and marginally faster charging as well in the same price range.

I don't really need the 3rd row, but I do need the extra storage with the 3rd row folded down to carry equipment for my robotics team. 2 row SUVs just don't have enough storage space.

Yeah, I know about the ICCU issue and that I am taking on that risk.

Would LOVE an EV6 but it doesn't have enough cargo capacity for me right now.
