Rust-Oleum 2X Automotive Enamel Custom Spray 5-in-1 Spray Paint, 12 oz, Gloss Red

prep: sand the letters down thoroughly with 240 then wipe with Isopropyl Alcohol

painting: first coat is a light misting, 15 mins per coat, total 5 coats or until black is gone

Would not recommend you use clearcoat over that RustOleum Auto Enamel. I had 5 coats of the red on there, it was flawless after 24 hours. I then sprayed clear and it ruined everything, started to flake. I have access to an auto body shop so I ended up just using their paint (no idea what it was but its high end). I wouldn’t have had to do any of that if I just left everything alone after 5 coats of the rustoleum red enamel.

yeah I thought about just keeping the blue and black theme going and got blue tow hook covers when I first got it. It looked good either way on a black truck. I tried both out and ended up deciding to go black and red.

I'm assuming you'll do the little lightning on the tailgate as well? I like the blackout grill and red tow hooks, looks like it matches well overall.

correct. Superdec sells the Lightning flag emblem in various colors. Not sure if they are the same size as the one on the truck but I plan to remove the one on the truck and put that one on.

Thanks, definitely not trying to overdo it with the red so I think I’m done after the tailgate flag badge and maybe the Ford emblem.

yes, going to look for a 5” Ford emblem with red and swap that puppy out too if I can find that somewhere

Plastidip is fantastic, I plastidipped the wheels on a 2012 Impreza I had years ago and I didn’t even have to remove the tires just had to apply a shine to them and it stuck to the wheels perfectly but allowed you to pull it off the tires themselves. The plastidip lasted 5 years, I only repaired it one time when a huge rock hit one of the wheels. Its definitely cheaper for sure, but like I said I had access to an auto body shop and ended up getting professional paint on these badge overlays so ended up going that route since I can remove these overlays if I get a 2025 Lariat eventually.
