If you enter a destination in the NAV app, it is MUCH more accurate since it can at least determine what kind of driving you will be doing (Highway, city, mix). It doesn't account for headwinds/tailwinds but it is much more useful than the plain GOM.

I expect people would freak out more if they drive primarily highway and the GOM showed that low all of the time rather than closer to the EPA. There are dozens of posts on this now that the nights are getting cooler. It is a balance and most of us ignore the GOM as I did on my ICE. I know I can meet or exceed the rated range in town and I know I won't come anywhere close to it on the highway when it is cold.

So I’ve put 15,000 miles on my lightning so far and maybe once or twice in its entire life have broken 2.2 mkwh while on the road. Sure putzing from one side of town to the next I might get 3 1/2 but 95% of my driving is open highway and my average is 1.9. I still have one of the trips left alone since when I bought it and it also says my lifetime average is 1.9. These vehicles are supposed to learn our driving patterns and give us information that reflect the way we drive yet every time I charge this thing up to 90%. It tells me I have over 300 miles of range. We all know that’s not the case though at 90% on my extended range battery. 90% equals 117 kW multiplied by 1.9 equals 222. So why after having put over 10,000 miles on this thing and never breaking 3 kWh does this thing calculate mileage like I get 3 kWh? I love this truck and there are a few things that I don’t like. This is probably one of the more annoying. I’ve gotten to where I just use my calculator to figure my range instead of using their gauge.
I have over 30k on my 2023 ER. The truck has 'taught me' to do easier starts and slow down a bit which saves lots of electrons. Much of my driving is to and from my house up in the mountains 8 miles from a town (resulting in just getting 25k out of my first tires). I have light A/C on about half of the time. My average mileage over this whole time of mixed highway and off-road driving in Southern California is 2.4 mi/Kwh. I keep original size tires on my truck pumped to 40psi and don't haul much very often. My friends tell me it is my driving style that is the key.
