The fact that VW owns Scout is EXACTLY why I would never consider buying one. Dieselgate. "F the customers, and the environment". Intentionally engineering vehicles to falsify emissions testing.
I believe they made a major investment in Rivian also.

I believe they made a major investment in Rivian also.
Per ChatGPT...

"Joint Venture Formation: Volkswagen Group and Rivian created a joint venture called Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies (often shortened to RV Tech) to co-develop vehicle software and electrical/zonal architecturefor future EVs. Source: Volkswagen Group

Volkswagen Investment: VW agreed to invest up to about $5.8 billion into Rivian as part of this partnership. That includes initial cash infusions (e.g., a $1 billion upfront investment and a later additional $1 billion) tied to milestones. Over time, VW is expected to become the largest single shareholder in Rivian, potentially overtaking Amazon’s stake if targets are hit. Source: ArenaEV"

Scout being based on this development (most commentary on Rivian software has been very positive) is very compelling IMO and exactly the type of agreement Ford should have done with Rivian as an early investor in them before retreating from the relationship.

VW is pulling the plug on ID Buzz, you must forgo buying any VW, Porsche, Slate, Bentley.
While I don't disagree with your point as such, VW is only removing it in the US, for 2026, not the same as canceling it - at least for now.

Yeah, and? You really think I have a problem NOT buying from a brand that I don't feel deserves me as a customer? There is some late stage capitalism sentiment going on in this thread
I wasn't trying to argue or call you out. I'm totally in agreement. I wouldn't use the 1000kw EA credit that came with our EV6 or the 250kw that came with the lightning until I could use it in my States Evolve NY network, setup and paid with the fine money.

The fact that VW owns Scout is EXACTLY why I would never consider buying one. Dieselgate. "F the customers, and the environment". Intentionally engineering vehicles to falsify emissions testing.
Been there done that. I may just be a worker bee in Society but my earned dollar is mine to spend how I want and in principle will do my best never to support the VW group. Not even rivian as they are 12+% owned by the VW group.

I'm rolling the dice for at least 10 years out of the lightning.

yeah except I never said any of that. I replied to a very specific sentiment that made no mention of any of that crap.

Maybe slow down on running to defend a billion dollar corp long enough to read my entire message and the context before replying.
You said: but now it will be the last Fords we own, not going to allow another rug pull
How is that different?

I don't want an ICE vehicle, even an EREV. I guess I'll be going elsewhere for my next truck.
Me either, but I expect after 8-10 years when I am ready to replace the Lightning, there will be new, better options, likely including Ford.
I read Hyundai/Kia are planning to release the first solid state EV's by 2028-or so.

I like to imagine the "second generation" Lightning appearing by 2030, solid state battery pack at half the weight and double the energy capacity, 1,200 Volt charging, get 500 miles in 10-mintutes of charging time, pull throughs are common on all the major hwys, V2H is standard feature...guy has to dream...

Ford owes us nothing, we gave them our money for a product and they just said "ope....we'll just sweep this one under the rug"

Until they decide to pull the plug on the Mach-E and eventually can the "UEV" platform, they'll still try to pump stuff out. We did moan on this same forum about the high cost of entry before they were having incentives thrown at them left and right, so we did it to ourselves.

Unfortunately the early reviews of social media personalities purposely setting towing tests up for failure and certain articles being made with clickbait titles to grab attention of the naysayers seems to have done it's job. Seems like it's only the Lightning being called junk, while I've not seen the same disdain for Rivian's or the GM offerings.
So, it’s Hoovie’s fault?

That is what I don't understand about Ford's pivot here. The next-gen version of the Lightning with what you've outlined could be available far before they roll out the EREV version. I don't get it.

Maybe Ford was thinking of this in McPherson today. Helps to have a refinery here and ethanol plants nearby.
