Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant how do you clean the drain lines for the sunroof. I know I had to help my sister with an issue in her Infinity and apparently that was a common problem and I also had something similar in my old Subaru. I'd like to find any tips as to how to clean the ones out in this lightning before anything bad happens!
Best tip I have heard is to snake them with a piece of string from a weed whacker.

3. I have now accumulated 75K miles on my 22 MME and 53K miles on my 23 Lightning. Accept the fact that you will get frustrated on your first long distance trip, but it will get better.
My first trip was actually quite pleasant, though only a few hundred miles. Now I did plan, and looking back, over planned, but it was a very nice trip. My next trip was over 1500 miles and this was also really enjoyable. But with this said, I would say that you shouldn't plan to take a trip like you would when you're 18. I'm getting old so I actually do need to stretch my legs and that trip was no longer than when we took it with a ICE vehicle.

My unpopular opinion, don't buy one. A lot of folks end up without any major issues, which is great, but if you are one of the unlucky few, it's hit or miss finding a dealership with competent EV techs. Ford Corporate will be almost worthless in supporting you, and will give you the runaround.

My advice is buy a lightly used 1-2 year old EV. Someone else will take the majority of depreciation.

Look for a Lariat Extended range or higher trim. Another good choice is if you intend on towing any time in the future look at a lightly used GM truck with MAX range (205 kWh battery) They run in the $60k's

For window defogger & heat use at 4-8% of energy to climate:

  1. Heat at driver focused, fan 1, set temp at 65-67, use seat heat at 1 bar, steering wheel heat if necessary. I never use auto as a little heat constantly works perfect.
After a year + of messing around turning heat-on & off, & various schemes in my daily I hour commute, I‘ve evolved to the above as set & forget October-March we’ve cool weather, high humidity and window fogging very common.

if the S.O. Is with me I kick temp up to 70-71.

Mudflaps, you need them.

I have never owned a car that brings so much snow inside the garage. There are so much snow stuck everywhere, that melts and needs to be taken care of.

Where do you see the 4-8% energy to climate reading at?

Also, with heat on driver focused, which vents is it using? When I check the vents and it says driver focused, none are opened so then I open the two I want. I also have a throw sized blanket stuffed under each seat blocking the rear vents plus the rear vent on the console is closed. Thanks.

That makes good sense. I wonder how long they run, and where they end up.

I would tell a new Lightning owner to read the owner's manual, cover to cover.

I was in the group that reserved a Lightning on the first day available and waited for my turn to order. In that time period I read the manual multiple times.

The answers to a lot of the questions posed on this Forum can be found in the manual.

In terms of maintenance? My advice would be CHECK UNDER YOUR FRUNK periodically. A lot of guys will be shocked at how much dirt and grime accumulates under there on all the hoses, lines, fittings, modules, and coolers. Mine was caked with dirt and grime in less than 5,000 miles, to the point I couldn't even read the label on my 12v battery.

Unlike an ICE vehicle, you cannot just pop the hood and spray the bay clean on these Lightnings. All that dirt goes hidden.

The “This Trip” energy use button. I take it with a grain of salt. but it’s a choice.

I too close the panel vents as I hate air on my face (cool air particularly). It appears to push more air towards window and floor vents. I use driver side not knowing the actual below dash vents but now that you ask I’ll crawl under the dash and look around. Seat heat is the real deal.

Of note… I tried some small 300-500 watt 120V space heaters and got similar results (500+ watts at 5-6% energy use).

Examples of two small heaters I tried. They barely worked as fan wasn’t really strong enough & heat marginal. 400-500 watts 120V heaters for under a desk type use.

You must drive on dirt/rock/shell roads a lot to accumulate enough dirt to blank the battery label. My old truck has 30k miles on it and just a slight amount of dust buildup over the last 13 years. Pavement princesses are both my trucks.
