I like the size. it would work fine for me as a daily driver or running errands on the weekend. It would also be easier to slip into parking spotscompared to the full size trucks. I owned a 1980 chevrolet elcamino for several years, it was really handy to have. Of course i would keep the Lightning as a fellow can never have to many cars!

Seeing these "spy" shots, does this look TINY. I actually like a smaller truck, but this may not be even as big as a Maverick judging from the photo with two people in the cab. Was hoping for something closer to the current Ranger crossed with Santa Cruz for aerodynamics and perhaps a bit smaller. This is looking like it's likely a no for me. IMHO, Ford went to far on the smaller for a truck. A.car on the platform could work, but a truck is questionable. And yes I know allot of people say they want small. I drove a 97 Ranger for 11 years, and I understand the appeal, but it also had a full size bed.

Ya, I still have my 96' Ranger XLT, 4sp/OD, with the full size bed. I'm keepin Both as they both have their great qualities...

We drove this Sport Trac Adrenalin 10 years & nearly 160K. A darned good trucklet (the S.O.‘s name). V8 power, AWD, IRS, & would tow 7,600 lbs. Really fit into the garage easily as well as compact parking spaces. Probably about as small a truck as we’d go though I fondly recall my Dad’s 70’s Mazdas, particularly the B 1600 pickup. That was tiny but fab as a farm truck running for parts. I’d guess that Ford is rolling a new American urban Ute, a new market sector.

Our Adrenalin trade-in was picked up by an east coast collector who put serious $$ into maintaining it as a specialty model that had all the bells & whistles. While it’d seat 5, really a 4-seater with just under 300 hp. Pretty good corner carver for a trucklet. 22 mpg if driven “conservatively”.

Many local workers drove the ‘70’s & ‘80’s foreign trucks as imports & rebranded rigs from the big 3. What was hilarious is watching two guys bs over the beds of the small trucks while gazing at the assortment of bed junk including tools, firewood, chainsaws, and … beer cans. Try that with a modern truck 😂 and we’d all be using step ladders.

Looks good.

Kudos for ford for even trying this. It's a tough ask from their perspective.

If it fails--their first vehicle of second generation will be considered a failure.

If it succeeds- they will be cannibalizing their own the highly lucrative / popular maverick market.

Tells me FoMoCo and Farley must still really believe in EV to even try this.

Looks nice. And as a city dweller, it looks like it would meet a lot of demand for something that fits urban parking spaces. But I will keep my Lightning until the batteries die. And then hopefully find someone who can fit the latest battery chemistry underneath and keep it going.

If this thing has a foldable mid-gate then I'm gonna be giving this some looks.

I probably won't give up my lightning at this point, but between this and the slate it's really nice to have some options on the horizon.
