The sensor in the taillights is for blindspot monitoring.
The bumper sensors might not detect a high up intrusion and they can also be toggled off.
Look out for the body shops, find one reputable. Without seeing the damage it's hard to say what to look out for. Frame damage is possible but maybe it's just the bumper, hitch mount, spare tire and retractor, bumper mounts and attachments. Concerns would be the wiring harness for the lights...
