If you’re built and the window didn’t change, I think you’re locked in. Short of someone going into the rail yard and pulling parts out of your truck.

Don’t get me wrong, it might be me stealing your running boards and wheels, but it wouldn’t be a mandatory option removal.

@Yellow Buddy Since yours is Black as well, have you decided what you are going to do as far as paint protection? I keep waking up in a cold sweat because I have swirls all in my paint. How can I have buyers remorse and I have not even bought it yet?

I've already decided to not get PPF. I got it on my black Model X, which was a solid/non metallic paint. The PPF still swirled. Not as bad as if I didn't have it, but to pay several thousand and have it still swirl just wasn't worth it. Where it did help was bug splatters on the front, much easier to get off and get cleaned but I just can't bring myself to spend 10% of the vehicle price too protect the paint. I will probably self apply an acrylic sealant though.

At the risk of drawing ire for from the forums I will also say (at this point in time) this is a spare truck to me and I'm not quite sure what to do with it once my Rivian comes in. The OTD price of under $30,000 for me means I don't think I can bring myself to sell it ever. But this is also why I haven't given much thought to paint protection either.

Option 1: This is my home battery backup system now. It would cost me $10,000 for a 30kW home battery. I'm getting 98kW out of the lightning which means it's cheaper to buy this than batteries. At the same time the truck would be garaged, plugged in, and at some point in the far future I would have a 1st generation F-150L with very low miles and protected from the elements.

Option 2: It's my Home Depot truck now. Mulch? Not a problem. Gravel? Sure. This is what it was designed for right? Part of me feels bad about beating up this thing given the historical significance of the truck. Despite the Mach-E and even Tesla, I do think we'll point back to this being a turning point of mass adoption. If I went this route it would likely go to...

Option 3: It's my daughter's truck...later. I don't see prices dropping. I can surely get use out of it as a Home Depot truck before handing it to my daughter to play bumper cars with. It's a large vehicle, plenty of weight. She'll be much safer in this than say a Chevy Bolt. That said, I am struggling with giving my daughter a vehicle in which she can go away from me to a dark corner of the world with a built in bed.

One thing is for sure, it's going to be my truck at least until the Rivian comes in. Even then if I find I like the F-150L more, I would most likely sell the R1T and buy a F-150L Lariat ER w/ the better seats and CoPilot 360 Assist as that fits more to what I would want to have on my primary vehicle. Which means I would still have to decide on what to do with the Pro in terms of Option 1, 2, or 3...

Your thoughts are basically mine with the exception of the daughter. I have a son. I am confident I'll be glad he finds a dark corner of the world. The financial black hole will have moved away from my wallet.J/K well maybe.

While your waiting on the Rivian I am waiting on the next gen Ford. Then I'll pass this one down and get my fully loaded model. This truck is going to fill the gap for me.
I am planning on making a trip up to Saratoga with a couple day stop in Staten Island next spring as EV adventure of sorts. I have lots of friends up there that the wife has never met.

You are right about the cost. After the tax credit and my meager $600 Ford Dplan discount I'll be OTD at around 37k. I couldn't buy a ICE Super Crew F150 4x4 with the electronics this has for that price. It is an amazing bargain.

It's crazy how much state discounts matter. Some folks complain that NJ isn't all that EV friendly but I'm getting almost another 20% off when you factor in OTD pricing.

I think I'm going to just go old school with the frequent wash and good wax.

If you're good with wax, you should give ceramic coatings a try. I've use acrylic as well, but it's a bit tougher to fully get off. Process and time isn't all that a much different but the protection lasts longer.
