This comment is about the tire choice process. Selecting tires is highly dependent on the current and anticipated use cases…
Great comment, totally agree. I have friends with KO3s and Nitto Ridge Grapplers on their pavement princess trucks. That’s an unnecessarily expensive commuter tire…but they look cool!

While I appreciate the F150 capability, the reality is that I’m usually commuting, moving college kids, making trips to Home Depot, and driving 4 adults in a spacious cabin (bonus points for putting most of our stuff in a dry frunk). Snow is rare here, and Dallas shuts down for the possibility of 1/8” of ice 🙄. And I am not driving PNW forest roads to harvest fire wood - but I salute you sir and your intentional approach to tires.

The stock Hankook tires have 115T rating. This is a SL designation for some tires with a typical 2 ply side wall. If the intended usage is weighted toward rigorous off road or towing look for a load rating of 119T or higher but recognize that the higher load rating comes at the cost of a heavier tire and reduction in efficiency.
My General Grabber's have a 116T rating. Would I get more range with a 115T or lower rating for an all season tire, on average? Thanks for any input.

This comment is about the tire choice process. Selecting tires is highly dependent on the current and anticipated use cases. With winter approaching and the amount of wear on a '23 Lariat ER with 40k and based on the tire wear, it seemed like a good time to put on new rubber. The Hankook stock tires were fine on the road and produced the advertised range. My typical daily commute is 40 miles 60/40 rural road/hwy. The Hankooks on Dirt/mud and snow in winter ok and I thought I could do better. Evaluate your use cases. Here are mine. 1) Live in the PNW so wet road traction is very important. 2) Ski and travel mountain passes so snow traction is also important. 3) Camping/hiking off road travel and to harvest fire wood. 4) Longevity. Tire wear is higher with heavy vehicles like the Lightning. 5) Load rating. This is the one area that caused the most grief. 6) Efficiency. For the Lightning this comes down to mi/kwh. 7) Hauling stuff almost every week and tow infrequently. Based on all of these factors an AT tire type is optimal. But which one? Since I'm a nerdy engineer, I invested a great deal of research into Cooper, BFG, Falken, Toyo, and many others. Cut to the chase, my selection narrowed to BFG KO3 and Falken WP AT4W. There were a few others on the list but these two were at the top based on my criteria and research. My recommendation is to develop your own criteria and select the tire that best meets the criteria. The Lightning is not what I consider a hard core off road vehicle or rock crawler The tire selection process was, to me, incredibly interesting and time will tell if my selection meets the real world performance, which is what really matters. I chose the Falken WP AT4W and I fully recognize that this is not the best tire in each single category. Life is full of compromises. Keep on truck'n.
I (and I think we all) appreciate the "nerdy engineer" approach you took with this. I think a lot of us can use your findings to our advantage! Thank you!

There is a small difference between a 115 (load range 2679 lbs) and a 116 (load range 2756 lbs) at max psi. Let your intended usage guide you as well as your vehicle gvwr + payload. If you intend to tow, a higher load range will get you a tire with more side ply’s and increased lateral strength. If off road travel turns your crank a tire with more side wall strength can give you the option to air down a bit more and offer better side wall protection. The cost will also increase as well as weight. Your wallet will be lighter and your truck heavier.

P.S. the first 2.4 miles were much better!

:O your old ones are almost slicks already
Yeah, back ones weren’t as bad as the front but not far off
A little over 27,000 miles on the OEM is pretty poor but these have an 80,000 mile warranty so hopefully better!

How have the Hankooks been for those who went that route?

Grabbed some wheels on black Friday, so debating on tire choices now.

Anyone have any winter/snow experience with these yet? That is my biggest concern.
