Regarding electrical tape ... 2 or 3 pieces of loose electrical tape about 2" long fell off the top of the kick panel when I removed it. @Ford Motor Company, I sure hope they were used for temporary installation purposes.

My guess is that it was the tape that prevented the abrasion that you were looking at.

I took a look at my wire bundles today.

They were not actually touching any metal brackets or bolts, but the clearance is not that large between the wire bundle and same.

So to be safe I wrapped the wire bundles with electrical tape then a piece of a bubble wrap mailing envelope with a fairly hard but flexible outer skin (like Amazon uses for some things) and tied that with a zip tie.

I also ordered some rubber bolt and nut covers because there are one or two that project out towards the wires and I think it would be a good idea to cover them as well.

Somehow I lost my roll of black electrical tape in the process - always seem to lose something when futzing around...

I also looked at my cabin air filter while I had the glove box off - ordered a replacement.

I didn't want to break anything and the cover did not want to come off easily, so I watched a video about how to change the filter - apparently you just pull the cover off - it took more force than I expected though compared to other covers I have removed.
