I had some updates done at the dealership and had this problem as well. The “fix” is to charge to 100% at home. When done, disconnect from the charger and you should be back to square one again.

I think it tells you what to do when you try to set home.
Tried this last night and still doesnt recognize a charging location or that I have been connected to an AC charger

I recently purchased a new Lightning and have been unable to set a charging location. Despite following suggestions from various forums, I still can't set a charging location. The screen indicates that I need to first charge at an AC charger, but I have a Ford Charge Pro installed at my house. I've used both the travel charger and a third-party travel charger.

I took the truck to the dealer for three days, where they updated the vehicle and advised me to try a few more chargers to see if it would allow me to set a charging location. Unfortunately, the certified EV tech did not inspire confidence in their expertise. I've contacted the concierge service, Ford's EV team by phone, and received a case number. I've factory reset the vehicle, tried adding the charging location via phone and in-cab, and updated both the truck's software and the FordPass app.

One odd thing I noticed is that the navigation app in the truck shows my home address, while the FordPass app's charging history shows my neighbor's address. I set the address of my Ford Charge Pro to match the one in my charge history, but still no luck. Both the truck and FordPass app continue to tell me that I need to first charge at an AC location.

I'm trying to reach someone knowledgeable about EVs at Ford who can provide a solution beyond playing dealer roulette and hoping for someone who can figure it out. My last resort is to disconnect the 12V battery for 10 minutes and try again, but I'm running out of options. Although I've never been a fan of Ford vehicles, I wanted an EV truck, and the other options weren't the best fit for me. I love the truck and how it drives, but I want to protect my battery and benefit from cheaper electricity pricing. I don't think I should be dealing with this issue on an almost $100K vehicle. I don't want to get rid of the truck, but I'm running out of options. Please, @Ford Motor Company, get me in touch with someone who can fix this issue.
I have this same issue. I purchased my truck last summer, 2024 Flash. I have never been able to set a charging location. I have contacted Ford Pass team and they said that it is a known issue and they are working on it. Still no fix for me after 8 months. I have just gotten used to manually setting the one time charge limit and plugging it in at 10pm to get my cheapest rate from my utility.

I had the same issue with my 2024 Flash built in December 2023. Dealer couldn’t figure it out either. Found a similar thread listing CSP 24B48 August 22, 2024 with build dates December 15, 2023 - April 4, 2024 which reported the problem and the SW fix. I took a hard copy of the CSP I found with a google search and requested the described updates at the dealer. They updated the PCM. It allowed me to set charge location and limits. Covered under warranty.
The need for this CSP did not show up in my FordPass app.
Just one more thing to try after the other suggestions listed above.

Thanks for the response. It looks like the build date on my truck was 3/24. I have sent this information on to my dealer. Fingers crossed they pay attention to me. They said they updated the truck when I took it in there and everything was up to date but I am highly sceptical that they actually knew what they were doing.

That's great news. I have that CSP scheduled to be completed along with the recall work in early May at the nearest dealer which is in Whitehorse, Yukon, CA. (I live in Juneau, AK).

Thanks for the response. It looks like the build date on my truck was 3/24. I have sent this information on to my dealer. Fingers crossed they pay attention to me. They said they updated the truck when I took it in there and everything was up to date but I am highly sceptical that they actually knew what they were doing.
My truck is at the dealer now and they are saying that the 24b48 has already been applied to my truck. there are 17 other module updates for my tuck but they cant justify the cost to update the modules with ford unless I have a specific issue or problem with those modules. So far I have had an open RO with ford engineering since 3/7/25. @TaxmanHog do you have any suggestions on what I should do with the dealer? I asked them to roll back the software to the version before 24b48 and then reinstall and she wasnt sure they could do it, and also asked them to update all the modules because at this point we dont know what is causing the issue. kind of grasping at straws here because I would like to have them do as much as possible while it is in the shop.

I do not think our more qualified FDRS experts are aware of any fixes for this problem, I'm not a tuning expert by any means. IIRC, when this problem first came up, afflicted trucks were told an OTA fix is still being worked on.

I just got my truck back from the shop and they installed 24b48, but never tested charging it to see if it fixed the issue. I plugged it in at the shop and for the first time since purchasing the truck I can now set charging locations. Thank you @Tralfaz the fix worked for me. PS check out the notes from the tech. Even after he fixed it he was trying to tell me I couldnt use my free charger I had to charge at pay locations.
