3.5.4 GPS gone haywire ?

Anyone else have this problem ?
Not sure if it's a software issue, but you'd think the truck would complain if no GPS signal is found.
I drove about 900 miles last week on 3.5.2 and the GPS was fine.

Since then the truck has been in the garage since Saturday (could potentially have lost signal as a result).
The truck updated to 3.5.4 while parked in the garage.


Took it for a 40mile (20 there, 20 back) drive today and during the whole drive the GPS (on Android auto) was erratic jumping between roads etc. On the dash the speed limit showed 5mph and at times blank even though I was driving on a 70mph interstate.
Driving home tonight it was even worse, built-in Nav had erratic behavior initially and then eventually gave up and seem to rely only on gyro perhaps...

But at least Ford beat Tesla to an amphibious car driving into Lake St Clair (according to the nav, but in reality I was on I-94 the whole time)

Android Auto maps is malfunctioning on my truck too as of 3.5.4.

I have reported the problem via the play-store contact forms for both Ford Pass, Android Auto and Google Maps, no solutions yet, tested it yesterday, still malfunctioning.

In the meantime, I only use Sync Navigation when I need routing instructions.

It’s been fine for me using google maps and waze on carplay. I assumed the GPS location comes from the phone while on Android Auto or Carplay.

I believe Waze is using phone GPS and that Google maps is using GPS data from the car - but I could be wrong.

Did you select a destination and seek route guidance?

This is when my A/A map goes haywire, otherwise it displays a map just fine with out routing.

I did not. I didn't realize it was only when selecting a route. I will test and let you the outcome.

I did some testing during lunch and my 3.5.4 seems to work fine. I navigated using both Ford maps and Android Auto Waze maps and had no problems.

Is there a way you can test the Google Maps (if you have that installed?)
I don't have Waze, but could install and test it to see if my experience improves, if so then might have narrowed down the problem.

Google maps on my iPhone via Carplay works perfectly with 3.5.4.

So does Ford's nav.

I installed and tested Waze, it works perfectly for navigation & route guidance.
Sync 4a navigation continues to work fine.

I'll assume the version of MAPS by Google on my S10e is the problem, it can't be uninstalled/reinstalled, so I am going to clear its cache and credentials/settings to baseline, then retest another day.

Just to add another data point. Got home from a 1000+ mile road trip using a compilation of Google maps and Sync nav and had no issues at all. On 3.5.4 with a Pixel 5.

Good news, after flushing Google Maps storage, cache and credentials, last week, today The application is working well with Android Auto and the Sync4a system.

I believe Waze is using phone GPS and that Google maps is using GPS data from the car - but I could be wrong.

iPhone user.
I often have a problem with waze not moving location, though google & Apple Maps being fine.

had same problem with 2019 f150 - which did not have factory navigation. Location for ford pass reported from modem gps
