We just leveled one with 34" Nitto Ridge Grapplers on Black Rhino wheels using Readylift 2"standard kit with no preload spacers. I don't believe you can go any larger than stock without the level. With the level and no cutting or removing intrusion bars we were close but had no scrubbing when using our standard QC process. Driving feel and ride did not change.

An interesting note is the tire/wheel combo weights. Factory assy was 73 lbs. Our custom assy was a whopping 98 lbs. We basically added 100 lbs of non sprung weight.

Shock assy from the Lightning appeared exact same length as a stock assy when we compared them. As expected the coils did appear beefier but had the same number of twists.

We also accomplished speedometer calibration using a Hypertech in line calibrator. Installation was no different than any other previous ICE build and was verified accurate. We really like this calibrator because it causes absolutely zero issues with normal PCM programming. That is a big plus if you ever have to bring truck in for programming of any module. Stand alone programmers almost always cause problems with the IDS and FDRS software that Ford Technicians use.

Range test before build has already been posted to Town and Country TV on You Tube. Mitchell will be posting the complete build and range test post build as soon as video production is complete. We will also be installing a bed cover and performing a range test then as well.

I was curious how lighter wheels would affect range. I purchased the VenomRex 601 wheels and they weigh in at 28lbs each.

Breakdown:
Lariat wheels 41 lbs
Stock tires 33lbs
Stock combo 74 lbs

new wheels 28lbs
Stock tires 33lbs
New combo 61lbs

That’s a 13lb difference per corner.

Here is where it gets interesting. Around town I was seeing 2.3-2.8 mi/kwh and with the lighter set up I’m seeing 2.5-3.8 mi/kwh my driving habits have not changed. Steering is sharper and the return of the wheel to center is faster, snappier.

On the hwy I didn’t see much of a difference. I usually drive between 67-70 and I’m still seeing 2.2-2.3 mi/kwh.

Weight doesn’t seem to affect higher speed range, rather that’s where aero comes back into play. They also poke about an inch more than factory so that is a consideration as well.

Since new I pumped them up to 44lbs psi as well. Ride hasn’t suffered and I’m hoping wear is similar, but that’s another discussion.

TPMS does swap over. I’ve read people thinking they new ones, mine swapped over fine.

You’ll need new lugs though.

Mods include:
Bed cover
Amp steps
Tint
Wheels

F150 Lightning Platinum Black
It's been about a month since I've had my Lightning and I wanted to share my modifications. I researched for months before I got it and was looking at everything I could, so I'm putting my info up for those who are researching options and looking around for ideas. Here's what I did:
  • Fuel Flux 20” Wheels
  • 285/60r20 Nitto Ridge Grappler Tires
  • Retrax One MX Tonneau Cover
  • Level / lift / alignment
  • Black out all emblems
  • Smoke front LED power bar
  • Smoke rear tail lights and tailgate molding
  • Window tint complete dark
  • Tint front windshield 55%
I have a 2023 Platinum. I have not noticed any issues with the hands-free blue cruise driving or lane assist. The truck rides so smooth, and putting it in sport mode is incredible. Barely any tire noise, not noticeable to me, but maybe to some if you've never had bigger tires before. These are super smooth and quiet IMO.

I have noticed less range. It's hard for me to get a handle on how much, as I drive a combination of streets/local and freeway daily. There's also a lot of hills by me, so that affects my range. I *think* I'm roughly in the 1.7 range on average. Based on what I've read, leveling the front end was likely what hurt the range the most.

The leveling kit is from readylift and I think it's a 2 1/4" so it sits exactly level. It's made for F150s so it was easy to add. No rubbing on the tires.

I had the emblems taken off and painted. They look like they came this way. I love them.

At the last minute, I had them "smoke" the lights on the back and front light bar. I love the back, with the red, at night it looks almost normal. The front light bar looks black during the day, which I love, but it's a bit "yellow" at night when turned on b/c there's black paint inside. Overall, I think I like it, but it's the one piece of the entire job that I am still a little unsure about (only at night, during the day with the black, I love it -- I feel the light bar is a great design but the quality of the light looks too cheap and plastic to me, especially on the higher models).

If you have questions, I'm happy to answer them.

Question: Can we get the front and rear badges that were made for the flash? I think I'd like the black FORD oval, instead of the blue. I'm waiting, mine is in transit to dealer.
