Did mine today bought the gorilla spline lock lugs
IMG_1304.jpeg

Amazon
Costco swapped off my snows today, and he strongly recommended getting a new set of non oem lugs, for all the reasons mentioned here.

I’m glad he did, I never would have known.

i bought the chrome gorilla ones, thinking that matched the existing ones.

do I have that right, do Lariat wheels come with chrome or black lugs?

I don’t have the truck with me, or I’d go and check myself ?

Mine were chrome. The black matches the center cap though.

I got mine swapped out by Costco today with a tire rotation, with the chrome gorillas…

they definitely stick way further out then the originals… (and a little less “shiny”)

hopefully won’t impact my range ! ??
But safer from the swelling dilemma of what was there I suppose…..

Gorilla “OEM” style acorn nuts are perfect if you want something that’s one piece and looks identical to the OEM ones with a large seating surface. Also are available in chrome. We will see how they do on rust long term.

Anyone see any gray lugs? Amazon has them but they all have bad reviews.

Looks great guys. A random side note: I just noticed that the manual specs 150 ft/lbs of torque for the lugs on this truck. That's the highest torque spec I've ever seen on a truck. Even my F-250 diesel didn't have a spec that high. From the factory, my lugs were no where remotely close to that level of torque. So keep that in mind.

Any previous posters able to come back with a 2-3 year review of their black lugs and how they're holding up? Interested in moving over to black lugs myself since swapping out rims but all of my previous sets have either rusted out or flaked within a year. Thanks!

Not new for F-150s. My 2013 F-150 was also 150 ft/lbs.

Yes 150 and agreed, highest I’ve seen, but got my torque wrench out and set them all at 150…
Probably relates to the speed/torque capabilities of these machines….

Except for the fact that it is the same for gas F-150s and has been for a very long time, since 2004 or so.

Mach-E is 150 also.

Here’s how the Gorillas have held up after a bit more than two years. Still looks fine walking up to the truck. If you look closer at them they are developing small spots of corrosion.

Granted, I’m in the south without salt on the roads…For now I’ll be keeping them and only swap them if they get noticeably worse cosmetically.

It was the same spec for my old Mach E Mustang. I agree these are higher specs than we're used to.

Yeah it's probably due to the extra weight on the same number of lug studs. For example, above it was mentioned that Mustang Mach-E also specs 150, but ICE Mustang does not. My Mustang spec'd 100 ft/lbs. Most after market wheel companies spec 95. Most aftermarket lug nut producers spec 95. Every other vehicle I've owned (30+) have spec'd 95 to 130 in the manuals. So yeah, I'm guessing it's solely due to Ford's Firestone tire disaster 30 years ago combined with having more weight on the same number of lug studs with these EVs. They aren't taking any chances. If you notice, GM went to 8 lugs with their electric truck.

Have really not paid attention to the specs for quite awhile but now see F150 has been 150 for years (I've had '13, '16, & '22 F150's & '19 F250) - my tire store does balance/rotations, and I assumed 110-120, but you learn something new every day... 150 it is!
