One day, maybe someone will figure out an LVDS passthrough
Don't worry, I'll show myself out. That kind of tech is... TOUGH.

Yeah that sucks. So the question is, can the 2024 Camera be retrofitted or is Ford going to have a surprise for all of us. Is the 2024 camera different at all.
For $150/year I'd just get a dashcam with a good parking mode and a separate battery/charger. (Not the dashcam batteries since they don't work in the cold, but basically the same setup as my black box setup)

Most high end dash cams don't use batteries, they use super capacitors. Unaffected by temperature and they're only there to maintain video integrity on for a few seconds during shut down, nothing more. The power source for all of them is external.

I personally use PPOB to power my setup as a sentry mode while I'm at work.

I was referring to the backup batteries offered by the Dashcam manufacturers, like this one:

Most (all?) of them are LiFePO4 based and at least the one I had (the B130x above) is smart enough not to charge it when it's cold out, but it never warms up enough to charge it during a 30min commute so it'll run out pretty quickly and you're left without a backup / parking recording.

I've only ever seen them with sc's for shut down power. But like anything else in the electronics industry, it's tough to keep up with all the changes. I also get that not many want to spend $400+ on a system.

The power magic box is just a battery disconnect for if your vehicle battery gets low, it'll shut the cams off so you have enough to start it. Don't need it in our trucks as the power port shuts off on its own.

Edit: Blackvue are excellent dash cams, I've got 4 of them, two in each truck. Old truck cams are 13 years old and still work except for that sc in it, they wear out after a while. It only messes up the very last video clip on shut down.
