CarPlay Weather Radar

I’ve been on the hunt since my previous truck for a good weather radar that works with Carplay. I found out that Apple restricts weather apps from displaying radar on the vehicle screen. Think of the lives saved!

However, there is a loophole if it is an overlay on a navigation app. On that note, I came across “Weather on the Way”. I find it handy. It works well just as weather overlay for your current position as well as with routing.

It does cost $20/yr (or $5/mo).

Love to hear if anyone has come across a competing product.

There is also weather forecast and radar in the built-in navigation. Click Tools > Weather > Forecast. On that screen you can view hourly or daily forecast or weather radar.
It's fairly zoomed out though. You can zoom out further but not zoom in.

You can also press the Voice button and say Show Radar to get the Ford version in their maps.

I'm not sure enough was known or shown, but the new iOS v26 and the new CarPlay has been shown to have most every app available. I don't know what restrictions or what weather apps might truly be allowed to project, but there are changes coming that might let you use your favorites you already have.

I did see that and it was on my 2017 as well. You are right. When you get down to the city level its about 8 pixels.

MyRadar works on CarPlay. It shows current location and precipitation, but it does not overlay the route.

That's what I use. It works reasonably well. I wish it had better options for integrating with Apple Maps, though. As it is, you have to put your route into the MyRadar app and let it do your route guidance.
