It seems like the rate is cheaper with tesla membership.

It's exactly the same as electrify america

If I wanna plug and charge, I have to pay the regular price

I know tesla app is not required to use supercharger, but if I wanna discounted rate, I have to

Right?

This is something stupid again...

They should at least able to link my EA and tesla account for discounted rate...

You are all over it! I shut down the Ford app because I occasionally use Electrify America. The rate drops from $.48 per kilowatt to $.34. Now I am forced to reinstate the Ford app so I can use Tesla when I get the adapter. I’m afraid if I shut the app off again, they won’t send me my adapter.

Yeah. I don't understand why the Blue Oval network doesn't offer any advantage other than central payment method. For that I could use tap to pay on my phone. If Blue Oval would act as a membership I would be willing to dish out cash for a good rate. Charging at 50+cents the kw is ridiculous

I am guessing Ford pockets the difference between the member and non-member rates? Ford pays the member rates and passes to us the non-member rates?

Because in the current scenario, Ford’s Blue Oval is just a middle man selling you something that another company (Tesla) sells. It wouldn’t surprise me if Ford has negotiated a cut of sales for each full price “plug and charge” session which is why Ford pushes everyone so hard to use plug and charge and stay within the Fordpass app.

I was utilizing the EA app to get pass+ rates before this, and it looks like I’ll be switching to the Tesla subscription in the Tesla app (which is easy because we also have a Tesla) in order to get decent Lightning charge prices.

Is it slightly inconvenient? Yeah, but not enough to save $5-10 every time I DCFC my Lightning. Tesla is gonna make a killing collecting $13 subscriptions from potentially 100s of thousands of cars they didn’t even sell, which is a big financial benefit and why they were fine giving up their network access as a competitive advantage. Which in turn allows them to keep investing in the Supercharger network, which brings in even more customers abandoning other networks, creating a feedback loop allowing Tesla to dominate the fast charging space.

Once Ford watches this unfold maybe they’ll get their act together and allow merged subscriptions in the Fordpass app. One can dream….

Is the Tesla subscription just like EA with regards to paying for a month, then immediately canceling? I'll only need it sporadically.

I'd like to know this as well. Is it possible to subscribe for a month only?
I will use them here and there for longer trips otherwise use home charger.
