The dealer is not going to know anything. Ford isn't installing them for a reason, i.e. they don't need to now.I would confront the dealer, ask if these are necessary safety devices to meet Federal standards.
Cannot possibly be an "oops".I hope this was intentional and not an oops. If it was intentional was it really necessary in the earlier model years? Why was it there if it wasn't necessary? If it was necessary what changed? Did anything change other than the accountants insisting on cutting costs?
So at best something else changed that made this safety device redundant. At worst??? they intentionally removed a safety device after the vehicle was crash tested. Somewhere in the middle...they forgot to install a safety device. Yikes.
