Ford F-150 Lightning Does 2024 Flash come without crash bars? IMG_9769

My 24 Flash has the crash bars in front of the wheels. It also has the crash bars behind the front wheels.

SORB tusks. A good device to prevent wheel migration into human-occupied space during oblique impacts.

My former Mach E had them, and so does my 2023 XLT.

Not that they seem to be looking lately... But @Ford Motor Company do you have an opinion on this?

Very odd it is not a model year break change.. what is the build date of the 24 with front SORB tusks? Mine is September of 24.

I hope this was intentional and not an oops. If it was intentional was it really necessary in the earlier model years? Why was it there if it wasn't necessary? If it was necessary what changed? Did anything change other than the accountants insisting on cutting costs?

So at best something else changed that made this safety device redundant. At worst??? they intentionally removed a safety device after the vehicle was crash tested. Somewhere in the middle...they forgot to install a safety device. Yikes.

Does anyone have a part # for these? I tried looking for it in diagrams in CCC1 for my Lightning, but not finding them.

I looked under my truck's front today while doing tire work. It seems from a cursory look that the SORB tusk behind the wheel is welded in, while the SORB tusk in front of the wheel is bolted on.

I just checked my '24 Flash and it looks like this. So I guess also no crash bars here.

Here’s a pic of my 24 Flash with the headlight removed.

I have a 2024 Flash. Purchased new from dealer. It does not have front bumper crash bars.

Would like to confirm with any other 2024 owners out there; did Ford stop installing front crash bars in 2024 MY?
I am just curious because I do not have a clue but what is the concern or reason for asking?

I imagine the OP is aware that the crash bars/SORB tusks exist and they noticed their truck without them. Assuming they were worried as to why or being less safe without them.

Those chiming in seem to make it known that some have 4 (2 in front, behind bumper, 2 more behind front wheel in front of cab), some have 2 (either in front or back of front wheels)...and some have none/without.

I'm not sure there is consistency amongst the years/trims but if not aware, these are the same items you may see mentioned when some folks have lifts and/or large tires that they need to modify or remove these to accommodate said modifications.

The reason I find this interesting is because if one goes down the rabbit hole of trying to put on bigger tires and more offset, the crash bars get in the way. You can get around this by either trying to push them out (usually by hammering) or by removing them all together (lots of youtube videos on this). Now, there have been many debates on whether removing the crash bars is problematic or not. Raptors don't have front crash bars. If you buy a new Bronco, some packages do, but the ones with oversize tires do not. I myself went down this rabbit hole for weeks. People would refer to the video of the NHTSA crash tests with and without. I found that here, you have to read down a few posts:

https://www.f150forum.com/f118/crash-bar-removal-vs-insurance-406589/

After watching this, I decided to keep mine in tact, but I have over time gotten to the point where I think I would consider removing them still. So now that Ford has been omitting them, it just makes me not feel as guilty if I finally do decide I want to remove mine at some point...
