There are several forum members who are part of the Duke EV Complete Home Charging Plan so I wanted to start a thread where we can share experiences. As part of the plan we are able to charge up to 800 kWh per month for a fixed charge of either $19.99 or $24.99 depending on your location. If you are in NC and a customer of either Duke or Duke Progress you may still be able to enroll. Here is the link:

https://www.duke-energy.com/home/products/ev-complete/home-charging-plan

The first bill should be coming out later this week or next so I'll be interested to see how they calculate things. I have an Autel charger that logs all of the charges so I can compare what Ford reports to my charger log.

If you are part of the trial drop a note below. I'm also curious if anyone is part of the "control" group or if Duke installed a secondary meter on anyone's charger.

That program would save me about $48 per month, but I didn't like the idea of not being in control of my charging (Duke says "minimal disruption to typical charging habits"). If I plug it in and tell it to charge, I want it to charge! Maybe I'll get more comfortable with the idea the longer I have the truck...

Not part of this program, but I'm in a program in SE Michigan where I get paid $100 a year. That program has "don't charge" periods for 2 to 4 hours (they've always been 2), and "please charge" of the same duration.

Fact - not ONCE in 4 years has a "don't charge" period impacted me. Most of them are during the day in peak usage, and I'm not charging because it's peak rate. A few happen 12am - 2am, and either I'm done charging or the charging isn't impacted with a 2 hour loss.

The "please charge" period has never impacted me because it's almost always during the day, during peak times. They try to force a charge, and my smart EVSE doesn't allow it because it has my low rate hours in it. Or, I'm already at 90%.

Saving $576 a year isn't chump change.

Rick I haven't even started any scheduling at all, I just plug it in and verify that it's charging before I walk off. I guess I've read too many horror stories of people who had a charge schedule set for 10pm or midnight or whatever, then woke up in the morning expecting the truck to be ready to ride, but it didn't charge and they didn't notice because they were asleep.

They change your home location to ”Duke Home” and update the schedule to not allow charging from 6 am to 9 am. I think in the summer they will move the no charge time to 3 pm to 6 pm. They can also declare other times with advance notice. During the one year trial you can opt out of the restriction up to 4 times so if you really need to charge you can. My old schedule only allowed charging from 9 pm to 8 am so it’s less restrictive than I was.

That hasn’t been my experience. I’ve had my 2022 Lariat ER since April and have charged on a schedule nearly every day without once having that issue. Just saying.

Same on this end. Says DTE Home. All changes go through Ford, and changing the settings inthe car. And yes, I can opt out (and haven't had to once).

Of course I'm not saving more than the $100 incentive...

I'll look into it more. Duke did finally rebate me for my charger install!

I received the first bill and here is how it worked out. I received a credit for $35.80 for charging so for the month I saved $10.81. Using the kWh pricing (sum of the Energy Charge and Storm Recovery Cost) it looks like Ford reported 299.7 kWh. I have an Autel charger and the app allows me to monitor the kWh usage and it reported 340.3 kWh for the same time period. Based on that it looks like there was almost a 12% loss which is a bit higher than the expected 10%. If I ignore the Storm charge (maybe by law they can't credit that?) then the loss is 9.8%. Overall though it seems pretty accurate. I haven't been driving much this month so I may end up losing a few dollars so it will be interesting to see if this plan is good for me long term.

Also, I've gotten texts on two days that there would be a "pause charge event" when I would not be able to charge. Both were set for the times that weren't allowed for charging already so I assume they are verifying that people can opt out.
