Are you talking the Outlet mall down by Manteo? Greenbrier Mall in Chesapeake has 2 EVgo in back. but that is 80miles from OBX

Yeah - 2 level 2 available at the outlets by Manteo - maybe 6-7 kw at best.

264 from wilson to swan quarter is in desperate need of CCS charging. Greenville at least has tesla chargers at a sheetz, so maybe in a few months I can take advantage of that. My weekend duck hunts near swan quarter are sketchy on the lightning. I drive there and back with no HVAC and 5mph under the speed limit both ways. Last time there was a head wind on the way home and I got home on 7% battery. a 2 hour and 15 minute trip in my old truck now takes 3 hours and thats not stopping to charge. Just driving the shortest trip and avoiding 4 lane highways as much as possilbe.

The Outer Banks Mall around MP15. Tesla installed a 12 port Supercharger there between Labor day and Thanksgiving. Blink was awarded $216k to install 2 180kW chargers there from the VW settlement. In some of the NEVI documents there is mention of putting chargers at the welcome center in Kitty Hawk and the one on US 64 in Manteo but those didn’t make the first phase.

The level 2s at the outlet have been broken for a while. The Outer Banks Brewing Station has a couple free ones and there are a couple in Kitty Hawk and at the Dominion energy office behind the Wal-Mart.

Looks like a Rvian successfully checked in to the OBX mall Tesla chargers on plugshare, so there is finally a decent charging option for the island.

I tried the Tesla chargers at the Sheetz on 70 in Goldsboro yesterday and could not get it to work even though fordpass and tesla app say it supports the NACS adapter. I can charge fine in Kinston at the Smithfield's Chicken and BBQ Tesla chargers. Have charged there several times this summer going to and from the beach. I tried both the A2Z adapter and the ford adapter and neither would work. Got a charging fault each time.

There were a few successful Ford charges at that site in March and then it seemed to stop working. I reached out to a contact I have at Ford last week and they passed the info along to the charging team so hopefully they were able to get it resolved. I saw the Rivian post last night and I’m hoping to see some additional success stories this week.

They really need to put something in the Nags Head area. This is one of the top tourist areas on the east coast and they have charging stations that will get you there but then you’re stuck with level 1 or 2 to get enough to go home. I was hoping Circle K would put chargers at one of their stores out there but they seem to put theirs near where others are already in place.

Agree 100%- but I used my 24 amp dryer plug charger (Split Volt) to fully charge overnight at my Nags Head rental house on my last vacation there. There is a 50kW unit in Avon on the outer banks but it did not connect with my truck last year. So nice that most rental houses have their dryers on the first floor- easy to reach with my 50 foot 10 awg extension cord.

I wanted to update this thread on some new chargers for eastern NC heading to the beach. There is now new EA station at the target in New Bern NC that is active since November.

There is also a new Tesla V4 station being installed in Morehead City, NC on 70 near the Tractor Supply as we speak. This will help all those EVs coming to the Crystal Coast/Southern Outer Banks trips a lot easier now. It’s not in PlugShare as of this post.
