Extended range battery constraints?

For backstory I reserved a Lighting about an hour after the presentation last year and placed my order for a Platinum with my dealer in early January of this year, I am also located in Canada.

Yesterday I received an unexpected call from my dealer, telling me they were informed by Ford that the extended range batteries are now on constraint. I could keep my order and the truck will most likely be delayed about a year, or I could switch my order to a base Lariat with the smaller battery and get the truck in the next few months.

Has anyone else heard this or received a similar call from their dealer?

I'd call Ford's customer service number for Canada. It's hard to trust dealerships when you hear so much about the sketchy ones.

Unless there is something constrained for Canada they are filling you full of shit. They are rolling off the line for US orders.

They are trying to seal your truck to sell with a huge markup. Check your order on the Ford website. Either way talk to Ford. They do not like dealers doing this.

I checked the status on Ford's site and it still says order in progress which is where it's been sitting since I placed the order in January.

Reaching out to Ford Canada is a good idea I'll give that a shot. That said I don't think the dealer is up to anything shady as they have a very good reputation and I work at a dealer next door which they are aware of. Also, they offered for me to change my order to a Lariat SR so I don't think there's really much for them to gain from that.

They could have gotten an option to sell a Lariat SR in the new wave 7 and are trying to push you to that so they can sell your truck with a markup.

I doubt it since there were no waves in Canada, it was handled completely different. I couldn't even do my order online, had to be through the dealer.

I saw their list, it's a few hundred people long, so I'm sure they could have had someone lower down the list pick up any unsold allocation. I also had one of my friends reach out to a Ford dealer in our auto group and he said the restriction is Platinum specific and might not be related to the ER battery, so I'm not sure which is which.

I'll keep an eye on my truck on the tracker but figure I'm fine waiting a year to get the truck I want, the unfortunate thing is I moved last week and now have a 200km round trip commute to and from work which is costing me almost $200 in gas every 2 days in my current truck. I'm picking up a Mach E GT at this point to drive until the Lightning arrives.

My truck (Lariat 511A ER) is being built this week for delivery next month in Greater Vancouver. My dealer told me they are getting an XLT first, then Lariat (mine). I know that I was 3rd on their list behind 2 Platinum orders. Total reservations around 200 I believe. Haven't heard anything about Plat's being delayed until summer 2023 but then again why would they tell me that. Fingers crossed for you as that's dissappointing.

If I remember correctly you ordered at Mainland Ford right? Another friend of mine ordered a Lariat ER through them and his is supposed to be built next month.

I don’t think all Plats are delayed that long but likely with wherever I am on the list and whatever delay there is has made mine slip to a 23 MY unfortunately.
