I wouldn't say the current administration hates EVs. They are just very pro-domestic economy, and the automakers are a HUGE part of the economy, and the automakers are losing their a$$es on EVs. ICE trucks are FAR more profitable. And so, the administration is simply trying to deregulate and make it easier to sell more trucks.
I think you may have forgotten a "/s" for clarity ?

Ford Lightning is the best electric truck ever invented, everyone that I meet is still talking about it or considering having it one day. If Rivian is surviving I don’t get it how/why Ford is not doing and making long term investments, electric vehicles are here to stay either China will take over or…..One of the ways to sell cars is having ZERO APR payments that way people will afford to buy.

I think the Lightning is going to stick around, its a wonderful vehicle. As one that had a Silverado EV RST switching to the Lightning has been a great experience. I think that this vehicle is far beyond what the Silverado is and Ford should realize that and keep it alive. Only think the Silverado had was range advantage, but face it sitting at charger waiting due to such a large battery is not something I enjoyed.
It is a great vehicle but if financially it doesn't make sense for Ford being a great vehicle only goes so far.

Although i don't post much, i do enjoy reading this forum but i think i need to add something this thread...,

i was slightly distressed of the thought that the Lightning might not continue as discussed but i am sure it will in some form.

my 2 cents - i have owned many trucks and F150s in my time and this LIGHTNING IS THE BEST (not just truck) VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. Yes there are small fixes that could make it better, but i think - if i can manage to post this video below - explains it very well how great these electric vehicles are.

Its such a shame that a few "squeaky wheels" on social media have created such misinformation that has slowed the adoption of EVs and this truck.

i did a tremendous amount of research before i bought, had high expectations, but am confident to say that this Lightning has exceeded my highest expectations.

Yes it doesn't fill every use case scenario, but what in life does...

see below and laugh as how looking at something with a different perspective can recenter our reality...

The economic viability depends too much on CAFE and emissions standards, carbon credits, and tax incentives. All of these have been or are in the process of being eased/eliminated/rolled back.

Given my age, my Lightning is likely my last pickup truck, so discontinuation won’t affect me directly.
me too. I have every confidence that Sparky will last 15 years and 150k miles.

Right now, we’re focused on producing F-150 ICE and Hybrid as we recover from the fire at Novelis. We will bring Rouge Electric Vehicle Center back up at the right time, but don’t have an exact date at this time.
Thank you as that response helps us provide our customers answers :)

My F-150 Lightning Lariat is the only EV I have ever owned. It is also the first truck I have ever owned. After almost a year of ownership, 2 things stand out to me:

1. This is the absolute best vehicle I have ever owned, bar none.

2. To a person, virtually everyone I who asked me about/or saw my truck had this kind of response: "Wow, this is great! I didn't know Ford made an electric truck."

I think a lot of this is on the marketing-- or complete lack thereof.

Side note-- The home charger makes it sooo simple (and inexpensive), but we also just went round trip from Richmond, VA to Boston, and charging was a breeze. Even the majority of Welcome Centers had chargers. Not that we can't always use more, but it seems much better than it was back in January when I bought it.

I just read from AI that they have plenty of inventory and due to fire at plant, and this pos president with tariffs, aluminum is high so.waiting to come down so focusing on hybrids and other gas hogs for.now. they know they have something good with thr lightning. Once we get back to a normal.state, if ever possible after this regime, im sure they will lower prices liked they discussed, etc etc etc

Curious how many of your friends you personally and directly marketed it to ran out and bought one right away.

No idea. Likely, none. But the combination of high interest with the fact they had no awareness struck me.

Most of mine think I'm crazy. At least until I take them for a ride. Then they think I'm slightly less crazy :cwl:

"Ford ā€Œdeclined to comment on the matter, but said that it was focused on producing gas and hybrid powered variants of its F-150 as it recovers from the fire at ā€ŒNovelis."

I think you all can read between the lines. They didn't even bother to refute what the WSJ said.

I blame the dealers. They’re not incentivized at all to sell EVs, they want people coming back for service appointments. If they put in even a little effort, they could explain that an EV is better for most buyers.
you can't blame the dealers. EV's are gonna kill them because 50% of their profit is from service and EV's just aren't going to require much. Monday I took my Lightning in for a 20k checkup which includes a tire rotation. The service guy said "pretty much a tire rotation" The checkup cost me $18. The average 20k mile checkup on an ICE f-150 is $300 - $400.

If anyone at Ford reads this…there’s no way I’d ever go back to a gas F-150 or any other gas vehicle for that matter. If I ever had to replace my Lightning and I couldn’t buy another new Lightning, I’d probably switch brands or buy a used Lightning.
AGREE COMPLETELY, I LOVE My Lightning.
