Something odd today, never seen before. My page shows I have 5 alerts (bell in upper right corner)...but all alerts show as read. The batch "mark read" does not clear the 5 alerts as there is nothing to clear.

Logged out and back in....same.

If I understand what you are saying, mine is the opposite. I only usually watch the bell for alerts and it has a number with how many new posts since I checked last time. The last 2 days it never shows a number at all - like nothing new is there, but there are new posts. If I click it it gives me the list.

And wow - literally as I made that post above, the number came back on the next page refresh. There are still some gremlins being restored it seems.

Yes, I get an alert when there is either a new story or a new post/reply to a watched thread. We mean the same (usage-wise) but seems we're getting opposite issues.

I'm still getting new alert increments above the "5", but when I read/clear, still stuck with a "5". I'm wondering if they represent responses to posts that do not exist lost in the restore. This wasn't a problem until today (or overnight).

Agree. I just clicked the bell and then clicked each post it was giving me an alert on, and they all cleared. This was even though 10 minutes ago I had read those posts. Seems to be back in order, but I did have to click each one to get them to clear.
