Front Trunk Won't Close (weird failure mode)

As long as we (again) avoid the DC Fast charging near-desert of West Virginia , we'll have a grand trip.

I'd be looking for Your Lightning + teardrop on the open road, except... Your Lightning won't roll on Your trip, eh?

Unfortunately not, I'm still going on the trip, but I'll be taking a gas tow vehicle this time ? Just am already so delayed (was originally supposed to leave mid April) that I can't afford the time losses from charging, even if I can leave within a week or so.

UPDATE: Took the vehicle to the dealer yesterday only for it to be working upon arrival when the technician tested it. Frustrated with my wasted trip I headed home and hoped that it'd be acting up again, when I brought it in next time.

UPDATE 2:
Today, I tried to use the trunk after a heavy downpour and it seems my suspicion that something was getting wet and failing seemed confirmed. Either way, the trunk once again wouldn't close.

So I pulled out my Autel scan tool and really went into serious diagnostics mode to try and figure this out. I pulled up the FHCM (Front Hatch Control Module) live data and I think I might have narrowed it down. And you'll never guess which part I just so happen to have purchased spares of last week.

Probably, gonna test swapping out the part tomorrow and see if it fixes it. If it does, I'll be bringing the truck back to the dealer with my documented evidence to request they swap out the sensor. (Why use the spare I paid for when it should be covered under warranty? )

UPDATE 3:
Well after further investigation in an attempt to find an easy way to swap the driver's side pinch sensor (spoiler alert: there isn't one, still gonna have to drop the fender liner) the trunk began working again after I messed with then sensor. So I immediately got the scanner out to check the live module data and confirmed the sensor was the cause

I'm almost certain now that the sensor is leaky and allowing water in. Once water gets inside the sensor body, it changes the continuity and the module recognizes the sensor as faulty, disregards the data and refuses to allow the trunk to close.

Definitely an oversight that it doesn't throw a code though, even the shop manual indicates a code for faulty pinch sensor, but it's never set that code. Even when it first failed, the code the module set was for the hood latch, not a pinch sensor.
