Agreed

Agreed but two batteries with a different mfg date… kind of like their plates are just ever so slightly larger than the case? I don’t have the current battery and realize not the best angle , but you can kind of see it.

The slight curvature from top to bottom is that what you mean?

Is that a used battery or is it supposed to be 'new?'

The battery looks fairly scuffed up, and has white powdery dust along the sides which could be indicative of past leaking due to venting due to overcharging - dried acid residue perhaps?

Ford sold/gave you this one? Looks like a used battery that may have had venting due to overcharging to me, but I'm not an expert, and/but I've never seen a new battery from a store look like that.

No this was in shipping the corner is lopped off , not sure what happened , new one was fine and a month newer , same expanded sides as the one I pulled out was which now resides in the lawn tractor as it tested 100 percent on a tester.

I chose the not think about it option…

Mine was a bit swollen, I figured I could chance it, wait for electrical gremlins to surface, make a thread about it asking what these issues are…wait for a tow, have it diagnosed, lose 1-3 days of work and get it free; or, I paid $200 at local ford dealer and replaced it myself. Highly recommend.

Here's a couple photos of my battery. It almost looks like the new one from Mike's photo.

My LVB appears to be bulging too.

I noticed it over the coldest part of the winter when I had to trickle charge it overnight because the charge port update kept failing.

I'm coming up on 36k miles, so I'm planning on making an appointment at the dealer to have a couple recalls taken care of and I figured I'd see if they will replace the LVB while it's there.

Anything else I should try to get done before my warranty expires?

Mine has less than 6K !!!! I hate going down to the dealer for ANYTHING because they take too long and sometimes they want to keep the truck for 2-3 days for a simple update! I lose time from work, so it's a pain as closest dealer is almost an hour away!

Bummer.
It is strange that the batteries seem to have a curve to the case brand new...I should go crawl into my frunk and look at mine too....
Well mine has that slight bend in the case as well, I'll be!
Doesn't look to serious to me, barely noticeable really.

If it is just a slight bend like that, I guess it's the design and not a battery swelling issue.
If the battery isn't getting hot, or out-gassing rotten egg smells, then probably not a problem with the battery maintainer overcharging it.

Just look out for weird error messages from the truck that seem to accompany 12v battery failures and keep your fingers crossed.

This is the charger I have. It has 3 different modes:

Amazon.com: ECO-WORTHY 10A LiFePO4 Battery Charger 12V, Smart Lithium Battery Charger & Maintainer, Trickle Charger and Desulfator for Lead Acid, RV, Car, Motorcycle, Marine, Boat : Automotive

So it says "Charging and Maintenance: It's not just a trickle charger, it's an advanced battery maintainer..." Lead-acid battery(12V 10A)

The correct mode to select is 12V AGM but it says 10A which is about the maximum you'd ever want to use on a 35Ah battery I think.

Generally 20% to 30% of the capacity in Ah should be the max charging current so for a 35Ah that's about 10.5A at the high end.

I prefer to charge with a lower current level to avoid heating the battery up and risk driving off electrolyte.

I use the NOCO GENIUS1, also sold on Amazon, with a much lower 1A current rating, but it does the job.
