Agreed but two batteries with a different mfg date… kind of like their plates are just ever so slightly larger than the case? I don’t have the current battery and realize not the best angle , but you can kind of see it.

Is that a used battery or is it supposed to be 'new?'
The battery looks fairly scuffed up, and has white powdery dust along the sides which could be indicative of past leaking due to venting due to overcharging - dried acid residue perhaps?
Ford sold/gave you this one? Looks like a used battery that may have had venting due to overcharging to me, but I'm not an expert, and/but I've never seen a new battery from a store look like that.
