Just got back from 2 weeks away. 1 week in Oregon for a wedding, then a week in Florida for a graduation. Would have driven, but timing made it impossible.

Rented cars in both places, EVs were twice the price. 2.5 years since I drove a gas vehicle. Drove twisted roads in Oregon to/from Crater Lake and Bend, missed both vehicles then but especially the Mach-E. Got to be in the former home of Steve Miller which was neat.

Tampa was hot and humid, glad my son and his family are moving next week to 20 miles from us. Drove his Grand Highlander from the airport home, picking him up tomorrow with an EV.

Drove my Lightning a few miles after getting home, brought a smile to my face.
Didn't love my week in Florida driving a VW Taos from Avis, either. At least it was mostly just from the vacation rental to an Orlando theme park, except that day we went to Busch Gardens.

I learned on a car with a clutch after riding a BSA MC with a clutch, and I played drums for a long time, so I have two good and pretty fast feet, faster than having to move one foot from the accelerator to the brake - no I do not ride he brake, but my left foot is always there ready to actuate it at a moment's notice. 🌩

And there have been a couple of reports of the one-pedal run amok and hitting things.
Well, OK sure. I also learned to drive on a clutch and I teach martial arts for a living so you could say I'm pretty good with my feet, too. 1 pedal drive still feels more responsive to me and whenever I go back to an old car without it, I feel like we're missing something in the way we pilot these multi-ton boxes of death.

Of course, I'm also the type to advocate that we should all be driving with basically video game controllers, so... ymmv

A couple of weeks ago I had to spend a Week driving a Pacifica, Storm was in the body shop because a tree fell in the road in front of me a few months ago. Barely tagged the right side of the bumper, and broke the plastic insert. It was a decent rental, and I managed to drive it as little as possible, brought my semi home several nights, so the van stayed at the terminal, saving gas. Even with that, I had massive sticker shock when I filled up the half tank of fuel I used. Obviously I'm driving for work every day, so I'm still used to engine noise etc, but Every chance I get to drive Storm, I"m extremely happy.

Whatever works...but see these and other posts about accidents while using one pedal driving:

Some accidents could be the result of driver error. A search's AI result, FWIW, says:

My first "Vehicle" was 69 Triumph Trophy 250, TR25w, Still have it, though is getting a lil long in the tooth...so to speak.

2006-05-02 My Triumph Trophy 2500002.webp
Nice!

It's a classic now. My 1968 BSA was also a 250cc, they are pretty much the same bike with a different gas tank, seat and emblem.

One of my friends still has his Triumph 650cc.

Had a lot of fun riding mine back in my senior year of HS. When I sold it I saved one of the badges from the tank:

Ford F-150 Lightning Ice vehicles suck 2007-Mar-21 005BSA-emblem 1

One of my girlfriends back then took off the badge and painted a peace symbol on the tank:

Ford F-150 Lightning Ice vehicles suck my-BSA-2

I guess we thought we looked cool tooling around town! Ha!

Later in life I bought a 2000 HD Sportster 883cc:

Sometimes I'd get confused about which side the shift lever, clutch, brake etc. was on - on the Harley they are the opposite of the British BSA, lol.

A lot more power but also a lot louder...so I think my next bike will be electric, if my wife will let me buy one.

Pretty cool, I love it.
Lil known fact, the BSA 250 and the Triumph 250 at the time had the same engine, Just different Model #s. At one point in time, I "threw a rod" (ya, the one and Only) all I could get was a BSA case, and so it was. I'm sure TaxmanHog likes the Sportster

BTW< I also own a 58' Triumph Tiger T110 (650), first sold in England to an American Service member. They had the bike shipped to the USA. It was a basket case when I got it, it had Honda fenders on it, it took me 6 months of searching, but found the OEM replacement it in Cincinnati, was also able to find the front fender license plate bracket.

Yes, I knew that about the engine, there were some other related parts that were interchangeable too. One of the guitar players I used to jam with worked as a MC mechanic during the day and imparted some of that info to me.

I think eventually Triumph and BSA merged with Norton at some point in the early 1970's. When I bought my '68 BSA Triumph and BSA were one company - BSA had bought Triumph in the 1950's, so they shared a lot of parts between models by the 1960's.

It was a nice light economical bike, not without all the issues that go with of course - the wiring harness was an issue, and voltage regulation was a problem along with oil leaks, etc.

A good sized beginner MC. I actually wanted a 500cc or 650cc but the MC shop owner talked me out of that as a first MC - I was 17 and my dad was buying it for me (my mom nearly had a fit when she saw it, and bought me a car ASAP, lol).

I never threw a rod on the bike, but I did on an old mail truck I bought for $50 at a USPS auction - happened in the middle of the interstate right before a bridge in Illionois! OMG, me and my girlfriend sat on the shoulder until it looked like we could go out into the traffic in the right lane - I could not go over about 20 mph...the longest bridge I have ever had to cross with cars lined up behind me for miles all honking their horns, lol.

We abandoned it in Peoria and hitch-hiked the rest of the way to California.

The Sportster 883cc is quite a bit heavier than the BSA, needless to say, not as agile, but neither am I ha!
