Local driving should be 2.4-2.8 miles/kWh.

Freeway 60mph = 2.4-2.5 m/kWh, 65mph = 2.2 m/kWh, 70mph = 2 m/kWh, 75 = 1.8 m/kWh.

These are under ideal condition.

Another way to look at it.

60mph = 2.5m/kWh = 5 hours of driving

65mph = 2.2m/kWh = 4 hours of driving

70mph = 2.0m/kWh = 3.5 hours of driving

75mph = 1.8m/kWh = 3 hours of driving

All of the above are based on 100% charge and leave some margin. Drive the speed that matches your bladder endurance!

I’ve been keeping my “lifetime” stats on the Trip 2 trip meter. Right now i’m at 2.4mi/kwh for 4,100 miles. That’s with probably 75% highway miles.

I would say if range is not an issue, I will drive at 70mph. If it is a little stressed I would be at 65mph.

What does your 100% charge distance say? I’m about 3k miles in, my “lifetime” stats page says my average is 2.4mi/kWh, but my fully charged guess-o-meter says 220 miles. My 90% capacity says 195 miles.
A bit far off from my 320 miles range. I have a long road trip in a few weeks. Then I’ll really see how it does.

It's definitely possible with certain conditions.

Attaching is my testing results from 100 to to less than 5 percent (around 328 miles, I am pretty sure extra 3 - 5 miles should be doable , but didn't want to take the chance, pull into EVGO for a quick charge) also ignore the total driving timer , the truck has been in idle mode (with engine and AC on) for several occasions.

I live in Chino Hills, California (with relatively unfriendly altitude changes compare to other parts of the nation)

How I achieve 2.5mi/kWh (330 miles +)

1. SoCal is probably the most optimal environment for any EV (no harsh winter, low humid, optimal conditions for one pedal driving, stop and go highway driving … etc.)

2. You must master one pedal driving, to me this is probably the most important step to match or beat your EPA estimate. Make sure one pedal driving is on. I am coming from several other EVs (BMW i3, Hyundai Ioniq ,Kona and Tesla M3) , it's very natural to me to turn on the one pedal driving (I rarely use standard brake for local driving, the Ford one pedal driving is very similar to the BMW i3 version , fairly aggressive and some characteristics learning)

3. I use blue cruise and set the maximum speed to 70 - 75 (anything more than 75 will kill your efficiency radically)

Don't worry about

1. AC or electronics Power usage, those won't do much to your efficiency, I have cool seats (max level) AC @ 68 F (Auto level 2) pretty much all the time

2. Don't worry about the random 0 - 60 acceleration to have some fun (make sure it's safe) , I am doing random acceleration here and there pretty much daily , those short burst wont make a huge difference to your overall efficiency, just enjoy it whenever you want to.

just my 2 cents , I won't be surprised some driver can achieve 366 miles + (2.7 miles /kWh) in SoCal or other similar climates.

I can't believe anyone is getting 2.4 at 80 mph. My commute of mixed highway and 2 lane roads of 40 miles each way with the highways up to 70-75 has been pretty consistent at 2.0 for a while now. Does the car have a break-in period where it started getting better? This is the first 600-700 miles I've put on it but struggle to get it much higher.

if you’re getting 2.4 with long periods of 80mph at 75% of 4,100 miles, your truck is built different!
No, i was just answering the question of how fast i drive on the highway. I mostly drive as fast as traffic allows. Sometimes it’s 80, sometimes it’s 60. On longer trips outside of my normal driving area i cruise at 75-80. I have no idea what my average highway speed is, definitely less than 80 but i drive 80 pretty regularly.

320 miles is the EPA rating of a mix of highway and city driving so you should be able to get above and below that 320 miles. Drive nearly all city and you should go over and drive all highway be under. I guess that is not what most are seeing? I havent got my Lightning yet but I do have a KONA EV that is rated at 250 miles, Highways speed I get 2.9-3.2 miles/kw and city 4.4-5.0 miles/kw or about 190mile-320miles, so that 250 EPA rating is in the middle. of course these numbers will change in extreme temperatures.

My GoM tends to underestimate but not that much. I don’t usually charge to 100% but right now it says 190miles at 71%.
