Lane keeping and bluecruise absurdly annoying. Can’t drive with it.

I have a lead foot so try to drive with cruise control everywhere that it’s practical to alleviate traffic citations. The “nanny” bullshit on this truck is irritating enough to make me consider getting rid of it. However I really like it for the most part, I just wish there was a way to shut the nanny off.

I wear prescription glasses with Transitions lenses, and BC will work fine for a while, but then decide that I'm not watching the road and it's all but impossible to change it's mind. It starts with the light warning to watch the road, then the warning turns red, then it vibrates the wheel a bit, all while I'm staring straight out at the road in front of me and yelling at the truck that I am watching the damned road, and then it starts intermittently hitting the brakes as if it thinks I'm asleep and it's trying to wake me up. I have started turning cruise off when it gets to the vibrating the wheel step, as when it starts hitting the brakes on the highway it's uncomfortable and creating a safety hazard.
Turn it off, wait a moment, turn it back on, and it might do fine for another 10-20minutes, then start with warnings again.

Would definitely consider it worth the cost of the device if it took away the stupid warnings all together. That plus the seat belt reminder would absolutely justify the cost and effort.
If you want to remove the seat belt reminder that's possible without the special software. I don't recall all the steps but it is listed inside the owners manual embeded into the sync system. Just open the manual and search for seat belt. It will then give you the steps to turn off the reminder.

However you still have to wear the seat belt to activate BC. Unless your saying there is a way to disable that safety feature with Forscan?

My '23 XLT ER does not have BC and I have not driven any vehicle with BC, but if the hands-on cruise with lane change, I forget what Ford calls it but its essentially BC I just have to keep my hands on the wheel is any indication of what BC is like I would not want it. I get a reminder about every 45 seconds to minute telling me to put my hands back on the wheel, while they have been on the wheel the entire time. It is ridiculous that the wheel is not capacitive to feel my hand. I should not have to keep constant pressure on the wheel or yank it every 45 seconds. My wife's new Acadia has SuperCruise and it was awesome! Never got a single remind to keep my eyes on the road and I was drinking water from my yeti, looked at my wife a few times while I was talking. It made automatic lane changes whenever we got up to a slower moving vehicle and moved back over. As much as I enjoy the Lighting, I think when it is time to replace it, I will be getting a Sierra EV. I think I can work around not having CarPlay, if GM hasn't added it back in by then.

Sorry if this was explained elsewhere, but does this actually take the whole "watch the road" warning away, or just the bong-bong"?

First off his address 706-0-1-1 makes no sense. Assume he means 706-01-01. If so, that value is very specific to his ICE truck. You will find your Lightning is no way near the same existing value that he shows. 2022 Lightning Lariats most likely have 8E50-A259-AE96. You should consult the spreadsheet, note your existing value for each byte, and then change to the proper value that disables the particular feature. Each byte can control up to 4 features and are usually unrelated to each other.

So if you use his parameters without consulting the spreadsheet, you could be changing other features in your truck. See this example.

Seat belt reminders can be disabled following the instructions in the owners manual. See my signature for mods you can make with Forscan that are tested for the Lighting specifically. To my knowledge, disabling the BC nanny is not possible.

Thanks for the more precise input.

I looked around online, but never could find an answer. I'd love to get rid of the "watch the road" nuisance. I AM watching the damn road, haha!
