Lariat vs Platinum honest opinion

I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I have a friend that is a mechanic and that is what we used to update mine he works on exotics and other high-end cars so he has about every certification you can think of.
The BCM is what is the security features of the vehicle and that is why you need it from my understanding.

Did they charge you to update the BCM at the dealership? Or is this a TSB that we can report to them and they will update our BCM so we can get WAL?

I have a 23' ER and would love to have this feature.

I agree the seats are not high enough quality for the Lariat trim as compared to he platy and the better sound system would be nice to have but over all the trucks are too similar for me to justify the price jump.

Now if they make the black out edition platinum only that would be smart on Ford's behalf as another differentiator.

No, they didn't charge me for the BCM update because it was performed while trying to diagnose and fix a warranty issue.

The original problem was that I was getting a restraints indicator lamp warning, with an on-screen error message indicating a fault in the driver's side-curtain airbag circuit ... but only in cold weather.

I'm (just barely) still under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, and this is a safety issue, so I took it in. All told they had my truck for over 3 weeks (they gave me a gasser XLT loaner, which solidified our opinion that we will never willingly buy another ICE vehicle) trying to chase down and fix the problem. They eventually had to get the Ford engineering team involved.

According to my service advisor, my truck is responsible for a new TSB on how to diagnose and repair the side-curtain airbag circuit on the Lightning.

Exactly my feelings. I wear Blue Jeans often. My experience with lighter Leather seats in past Ford Trucks is that Blue Jean dye transfer is a real thing. Plus perforations on seats cannot be cleaned to perfection. With black seats that is not a problem.

Right no I have full dog covers on the rear seats and keep a white towel on my driver seat.
