So, I completed the swap of a Lariat Leather Heated steering wheel onto my Pro. I’ve read about at least one other member on here doing it, but I can’t find the thread again!
Anyway, It all went well, but none of the buttons on the Left side of the new steering wheel work. As you can see, the buttons are slightly different, but I dont remember whoever did this mod before saying they lost functionality.
Am I missing anything? Really the only button I’m needing is cruise control. The others I never use.
Thanks in advance!

Just swap the buttons from the original wheel to the new one.

Ok, found the guy on Facebook right now actually who did the swap…he said he went into SCCM in ForScan and changed values for new left switch control pack numbers…
One option better than the others?
Thanks guys!!

Just swap the buttons. Unless you’re adding other features to use with the new buttons they are useless anyway.

I would use your original buttons. They match what your truck is capable of.
Will do! Thanks! Just looking at my old steering wheel now and I see what you’re talking about with the switch pack and connector up in there.

You remember any hints on getting that switch pack out?

Thanks!

I haven’t swapped my wheel yet, I just know that you should be swapping the buttons to the new wheel, sorry.

I can't really help you with this model. I changed mine on my 2018 when I installed my heated Raptor wheel. I think on that one I pushed them out from the back.

I’m in it now!
Looks like easiest way is to remove the trim piece and get at them from the back. Easiest to pull the whole pack out. T15 torx for trim, T8 torx for switch. Really wish I would have done this before I put everything back together!! Now to wait another 10 minutes after disconnecting 12 volt to pull the airbag…..again!

Practice makes perfect. Now you're the sites resident expert on steering wheel buttons. :)
For sure!!!

All done, back together, and everything works again!!!

Now I’ll just wait for a while before I order parts to make the heated part work…
Good thing is I’m getting really fast at taking the steering wheel apart!
Thanks everyone!

I’ll be slightly pissed if you’re able to get the control module before they’re available for my Lariat! 😂

Haha. For sure! But, I figure when they finally are available there will be a metric butt load of them available!!

Just cause I’m curious, you mean the hvac module?

OP, have you looked through the 14gen forum thread for the heated wheel retrofit? There is an option over there to enable the heated steering wheel via the screen and not the hvac module. I haven’t tried it yet but would be interested to see if it’s available on ours as well.
