So, no Ford dealer will do this modification for you because 1) they're (typically) not in the business of adding trim options after purchase and 2) they don't use FORScan.Hello Friends, Hope everyone is doing well.
Recently bought a Used factory certified Ford F150 Lightning 2023 XLT truck. Was disappointed to find that it is 311A trim which doesn't have Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering.
I know this can be added , Reached out to FORD Dealership here in Louisville. KY and seems like they don't right technician to do it. :-(.
I know folks have done it as DIY project .Would really appreciate if someone can point me to right person willing to add it to my vehicle. I live in Louisville, KY and willing to travel.
Any pointers are well appreciated.
Thank you
So, first, if you haven't yet, watch this video:
If you're comfortable moving forward, my recommendation is to start at the first page and read through all the posts at least once. There's a lot of information here but it's important to know what you're getting into before planning out what is required for your situation. You can do this, but familiarizing yourself with the process is the first step.
Then, your next step is to determine what modifications your truck requires. You'll certainly need to order there the radar module but you'll also need to find out what wiring needs to be added. There are three main spans of wire that that are required:
IPMA ->
Wire to Connector C265 ->
Wire to Connector C134 ->
Wire to Connector C1897 ->
Radar
If you're lucky, you may have the first one or two but you almost certainly don't have the last span. If you need to add wiring, there are many posts here that document how people have done so. If you're missing the middle stretch of wire you may choose to run a custom harness from the IPMA to C134, bypassing C265. For the last set of wires you can choose to either replace the entire bumper harness or add your own additional harness.
Overall, the process isn't terribly difficult and, again, there are many people here who are willing to help. Don't be afraid to ask questions!
