Oops, you're right, forgot to figure in the losses. 2.0 mi/kwh sounds about right

Large solar array on the roof with no electric bill from May through Oct last year, including driving our 2 EVs. So, $0. We really only pay on road trips. The truck costs basically nothing to operate.

System was installed 4 years ago. Thanks to rising electric rates and living in a state where the definition of "net metering" hasn't changed yet, the savings will pay for the system in less than 8 years.

So this month in particular I’ve been going into work very early in the morning to grab one of the free EV chargers. It’s the first month where my operating costs have been near zero, which is a significant feat in MA ($0.34/kwh at my home).

This ^^^

My son used our Mach-E for 3 or so weeks during his relo before he bought a vehicle (his car was in Florida awaiting the move). He called it a game (getting to work and charging). Then he started doing the math.

He is now driving 45 miles each way with a vehicle getting 25mpg at $5 per gallon, and soon driving a 22mpg car. 90 / 22 x $5 = $20.45 per day, versus getting 4 hours of free charging for about 28kWh, basically a free commute.

The chargers at my work are occupied by 5:30am...I'm not going to bed before my 11 year old so I can get enough sleep to save $3.30. I used to be able to charge getting in at 6:30 but there are too many people on site that have EV's now.
