also, there is no data or facts that show that 'ev owners' pay more to insure their vehicles, just because they are 'EVs' ...

it looks like this truck owner, though, may pay more because of, well, incompetent driving.

I pay $240 per year over my 2016 Maxima. I would say that’s less expensive based on value and technology.

Before buying my Lightning I had quotes all over the map. From a high of over $8K per year to a low of $1,600 per year.
The $8K quote came from Auto-Owners Insurance who is now the former carrier of my companies commercial coverages.

That's wild. I insure my Platinum through Auto Owners in Michigan and it's expensive but nowhere near $8k. I assumed Michigan was the most expensive state for car insurance because of our no-fault rules but a quick Google search shows Florida is more expensive. I guess Michigan doesn't have to worry about salt water flooding.

Auto Owners is definitely expensive but they have been very good to me when I've had claims. I'm ahead overall. I'm sure they'll get it back but I'm a fan.

Who did you end up going with? I currently have auto owners for the truck and my wife's Camry. Insurance on her car which is 10 years old is almost as much as the lightning. I've called and complained but gotten nowhere. I'm about to jump ship on them.

I ended up with GEICO. Hopefully you'll end up with a better rate than mine.
My company owns the truck and I believe that's a big part of the reason for the crazy quotes.

They had been insuring my company for almost twenty years. When they sent the $8k quote I called to make sure we were talking about the same vehicle, and we were.
