2024 F-150 Lightning Lariat (Avalanche)
Hi All,

Opened the door this morning to head to work and spotted this clip/spring thing on the driver's side floor. Everything seems to be in working order not sure what it is. Last trip in the truck was to Menards so it's entirely possible my shoe picked it up and it was stuck to it until I started driving.

2024 F-150 Lighting Lariat with about 6,740 miles.

Thanks for your help!

I can't think of anything behind the dash that would use a clip like that. At least I've never seen anything like that when I've been working underneath to add the ACC harness.

I vote that your shoe picked it up at Menards.

Looks like it could be from the accelerator pedal, does it seem to easily rock up and down?

AI search says:

In a Ford F-150, a small steel spring found inside the cabin is most commonly part of the
center console or jump seat lid latch assembly. It provides the tension necessary for the latch to hold the lid closed securely.

Other small springs found in the F-150 cabin include:
  • Clock spring: A ribbon cable assembly located inside the steering wheel that maintains the electrical connection for the airbag, horn, and other steering wheel controls.
  • Cup holder spring: In certain models from the early 2000s, a spring was used in the dash-mounted cup holder to assist with its operation.
  • Seat cushion spring: Some F-150 models use springs in the seat cushions to provide support and rebound.
Center console spring issue
If the center console lid doesn't stay closed, the small steel spring in the latch is a likely culprit. Many owners have found that replacing this small, inexpensive part can fix the problem. The console latch and spring assembly is available as a kit online for models from 2010 to 2018

Sorry AI the spring in the accelerator pedal is probably not serviced individually, probably comes in an assembly. Like hundred s of other springs in a lightining

AI is a joke, listing the clock spring of all things lmao, That's just a name they gave it, there's no spring in it at all. It's the ribbon cable that allows the steering wheel buttons, airbag, horn, and wheel heater to work.

I haven't noticed any change in the accelerator pedal feel or operations.

Looks a little like the spring from the vanity mirror door.

I think that is the speed limiter. You should try to see if you can go faster than 107MPH to test it out...
