I just leave the key fob in the console and leave the truck unlocked unless going into a large store, movie theater, etc. at which point the Fob isn’t a big deal, wifey just drops it in the purse abyss.

-Work for myself so don’t bother locking at my own commercial property/jobsite
-Home is fenced/gated, so just leave it unlocked there too
-Convenience store.. usually in for just a minute or two
-Beach, usually parked on the beach tailgating out of the truck so not going to lock there either..

I have been using PAAK daily since I got the truck and I have recently used the key fob when I go to work as I have work keys anyways so I just put them in my pocket. I have noticed that the experience with the truck is better with the key, but it is a pain to have that giant fob in my pocket all the time. I guess I was just wondering if it is worth the hassle of carrying the key or not. What are y'all doing?
In nearly 3 years of ownership, the only time I use my fob is when the truck gets picked up for service.

I used to use PAAK exclusively, but then I went out for a nice dinner with my wife, and there was valet parking only...

I believe you can setup a temporary valet PIN for this scenario.

Thats why i keep a programmed fob in a faraday bag in the truck. Mine is locked in a center console safe with other “things” i dont want people to access. You can always hide the faraday bag in the upper glove box that few people know about.

I use that fob at valet parking and when taking the truck in for service.

PAAK all the time. I don't carry a fob although I did buy a Faraday bag a couple weeks back. Now I just need to put the fob in it and put it in the truck.

I've had a few times when the truck wouldn't unlock by touching the handle, but have always been able to open the app and then unlock. I've had a few times where the truck will tell me it doesn't have a key, usually opening the app or restarting the app will fix that.

To date I've not been stranded because of it, but I do have concern that it will happen some day.

With Tesla the card was super easy to carry in a wallet and never have to worry about having the backup. I do have the door code too, I've used it a time or two if I left the phone in the house, but then you have to remember your code, which I do, but sometimes takes me a time or two to get right !

I believe the valey pin still needs a programmed fob to operate the truck. Valet mode blanks the venter screen to protect personal info and puts the truck in limp mode so the valet can’t abuse the truck.

you put it in valet mode and the pin is needed to remove the valet mode.

I use both. The FOB is in the center console (where it has been since I took delivery in May 2022.). But PAAK is active on my iPhone. I lock truck with the 10 key pad in the door.

I've not used it in practice, so perhaps you are correct. However, Ford states that it is:

https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...w-do-i-manage-valet-mode-with-phone-as-a-key/

Using Valet Mode With Phone As A Key
Select one of the options below for steps on how to turn on, turn off, or provide your passcode to a valet attendant.
Turning on Valet Mode with a Phone As A Key Device

To enable valet mode using Phone As A Key:
  1. Select your Vehicle image on the SYNC screen.
  2. Press Controls.
  3. Select Valet Mode.
Note: Your vehicle will check for either a key fob or a Phone As A Key device.
    • If a Phone As A Key device is found, it will generate and send the temporary valet code to that device via Bluetooth®.
    • If a key fob is found, you will be instructed to create a four-digit PIN. Once entered, press Done.
Valet Mode is now enabled and the temporary valet passcode will remain on the screen for the current ignition cycle.

Providing Your Passcode to Valet

Inform your valet attendant to do the following:

  1. Enter the first five digits of the temporary code on the door keypad to unlock the vehicle.
  2. Type the passcode on the SYNC screen.
Note: Once the full eight-digit passcode is entered, SYNC will display that the password was accepted.
  3. Press the brake and Push to Start button to start the vehicle.

PaaK with FOB in a hidden faraday bag because Paak has failed me a few times and the backup passcode says I need to do to the dealer for a reset of some kind.
