I went back and looked at my figures for McPherson, KS. That .07077 per kwh already included the .02 energy charge, the .03151 transmission charge, the .00972 energy adjustment, the .00305 city transfer charge, and the .01098 capacity charge, all of which are per kwh. It didn't include the demand charge and electric service charge which has always gone on the house before I got the truck. What I left off was taxes which fluctuates which I presume may be a sales tax which comes out to .00263 per kwh so that makes my total charge per kwh equaling .0733 which really doesn't change my figures too much.

Interesting to se all the various rate and programs.
Just wait until a data center comes to town driving rates up no doubt.
Then solar will be a necessity...plan ahead.

Being south of I-10 and east of I-35, I doubt anyone is brave/foolish enough to build a data center anywhere near me.

You'd be surprised. The population density of Florida combined with undersea cable opportunities make it prime real estate for data centers.

Hurricane zone?
Seeing the destruction these storms can cause on TV is one thing. But seeing it in person can be staggering. Sure they can build a structure to withstand hurricanes, but the supporting infrastructure is cost prohibitive to harden.

True, no doubt about it.

Went through a couple hurricanes as a child at the Outer Banks shore of NC in the 1950's really made an impression on me.

We had a deracho come through here in 2012 and there was so much destruction from just a few seconds of high straight line wind, incredible!

My parents built a house which I inherited on the island of Montserrat in the late 1970's as a retirement/rental property. In 1989, hurricane Hugho made a direct hit.

While my parents house only suffered relatively minor damage when a tree pierced the roof, the house next door lost its roof completely and it was months before power was restored.

Air studios Montserrat closed down after that as well.

A few years later, after things had been repaired and life was back to Caribbean normal, the volcano that had been inactive for 500 years or so awoke in 1995, and in 1997 destroyed the main town of Plymouth. 19 souls lost their lives because they wouldn't evacuate the danger zone.

Mother Nature can be unstoppable...

Lived through a couple pretty gnarly hurricanes. Unpleasant stuff. Stress about losing the home, losing your life, how to rebuild if it comes to that. Makes for a sleepless night hiding under the stairs.

I pay $0.10 or so from FPL but most of the time my solar covers my charging. Solar and the sunshine state go hand in hand.

I live in CT which has some of the highest electric rates in the country. with the delivery fee it’s about .30¢ a KWh. Which is why I am getting solar.

I'm about $0.18 per KW at home during off peak times (8 pm to 11 am I think), but I've actually started charging at work recently as the one in the parking lot there only costs $0.17 per kw and I'd rather put the wear and tear on their unit.
