Hope this works out better than the Ford GT I tried to order, which required about 20 pages of application and a rating for social media presence. Despite many years of Ford ownership going back decades, I didn't have enough followers to "qualify" to buy that car. Still fuming a bit... would still buy one if possible, but they limited it to 500 of their closest friends like Matt Damon. Perhaps this will have wider distribution, but I bet a bunch of "friends of Ford" still get to jump the line.

Its very weird that we’re seeing people in the 20k range within ~20 minutes…if there really were 20k within minutes, I don’t think Ford would have put out the “20k within 12 hours” news story.
Wonder what the actual starting number was, and are these numbers only for lightning?

how does this work with a preorder if my local dealer plays this game? Can I change the preorder to another dealer or am I completely out of luck?

The Ford site says you can call to switch your dealer without changing your reservation number/time stamp. I am going to change mine tomorrow. Tom at Chapman Ford (his user name on here is dealerinsider) in Horsham PA is promising 3% below INVOICE. I’m going to do that and have a courtesy delivery to a dealer here in TN.

The numbers are NOT sequential. We went thru this with Bronco reservations... we suspected region and model have some impact on the range of numbers. The first three digits seem to show some alignment with how early you reserve.

Yeah I had my reservation way before that. Maybe it's by region? Im not sure.
