I got devirginized today (11/25/2025). My first real road trip in my 2023 F-150 Lightning Lariat SR: 167 miles from Eastgate (Cincinnati) to Findlay, Ohio.
Short version: everything went better than expected. (Once again, I over-planned. But hey, I’m anal like that.)
I left the house at 8:15 AM with 100 percent SOC. The plan was to stop at the Electrify America in Huber Heights (Dayton).
With rain and heavy traffic, I tucked in behind a semi on I-75 and cruised at 47 mph all the way to Dayton. As I approached Huber Heights, I still had 84% SOC running at 3.1 mi/kWh. No need to stop. So I kept rolling and pulled into Findlay at 11:30 AM.
The original plan was to recharge at a Tesla Supercharger after lunch. As I got close, I checked the Ford nav for chargers and discovered zero Tesla locations were showing up. Weird, as I previously checked the Tesla app.
But right where I needed it, Reineke Ford popped up at $0.51/kWh. It was literally around the corner from my destination.
Unlike EA, the Joule Ford charger wasn’t plug-and-play. I had to scan my credit card like a gas pump, but it worked flawlessly.
After lunch I headed home, drafting another truck at 62 mph most of the way to the Huber Heights EA. I used the 44 kWh remaining of the free 250 kWh that came with the truck.
I got home at 5:30 PM in time for dinner.
Total round-trip efficiency: 2.5 mi/kWh.
Yep, I turned a 334-mile round trip into an all-day adventure. (Hey, I’m mostly retired and have the time.)
