Installed the injection molded rotary shifter adapter and the rotary shifter from ManionMakes in our '25 Flash a couple of weeks ago. Works like a champ and looks totally OE. Only another Lightning owner would know that it didn't come from the factory like that.

The shifter is motorized and illuminated. If I shut the truck off without taking it out of gear it automatically puts it in park. The drive and neutral hold letters light up and the dial has a nice blue ring when the headlights are on.

Installation went without a hitch. The adapter's fit and finish are perfect.

The shifter I received was brand new. PN: LX6Z-7P155-U

Highly recommended!

holy crap! this is quite an update.

so the injection moulded part doesn't require any finishing at all? so plug and play? that looks amazing.

Yup. It looks absolutely OEM. Only thing missing is a little rubber pad for the bottom of the storage compartment. The one from the original shifter is contoured and doesn’t lay flat.

Just received this part #JX6P-7P155-FG mounted in the conversion piece from Etsy. Before I attempt upgrade has anyone used this particular part number?

Has Ford assigned the ManionMakes injection molded version a part number yet? :)

I'm still rockin' my original 3D printed version, but the new one looks very nice! I might have to upgrade.

Edit: I'm an idiot! When you plugin the shifter you need to pull the gray piece back to lock it in. I'm leaving this just in case someone else makes the same mistake. It is working fine and looks great

I swapped and got an error. So swapped back and now I'm getting an error any my truck is stuck in the driveway!"

In November I purchased a JX6P-7P155-U (Ebay) and finally decided to install it today. Install on an XLT was more of a pain than expected but I was able to figure it out. When I started it up I got the error above. The shifter did nothing.

So I swapped the original back in. It is in the stow position and same error. Shifter is stuck down.I can't move the vehicle.

I looked at the shifter and it looks like I received the wrong part JX6P-7P155-FE. This is my fault for not looking at it when I got it but I'm annoyed I looked at the listing and I have the right one.

If anyone has any ideas how to just get my truck moveable again!

LX6P-7P155-EH from ebay might ship out a non-motorized version that doesn't feel very good.

Edit: Looks like ebay seller "manufacture-factory" shipped the wrong part, MZ9P-7P155-AA, which is a free spinning (non-gated) non-motorized version, and is now claiming they are all the same part. Buyer beware. It works. And it's probably going to be more reliable. So I don't know if I should just keep it...

My final thoughts: I'm agnostic.

Pros:
Looks stock
Gets rid of a failure prone part
Allows for work surface to be lowered while in gear
Easy mod to do

Cons:
$100 for a piece of plastic is pricey
It's becoming more difficult and expensive to source rotary shifters
I find myself selecting the wrong gear a lot

My biggest concern was that I would miss the shifter as a place to rest my hand, but that turns out not to be the case. I just put my elbow back a little more and my fingers rest just ahead of the arm rest.

So to be clear:

- A non-motorized shifter allows you to "spin right", or "spin left", not worrying if you overspin, because it doesn't matter.

- A motorized shifter stops on D, or P, gives a more "secure" feeling to people.

But, either one works fine, and both shift to P if you shut off the vehicle without shifting to Park.

Correct?

Next question:

My 2022 shifts to P when I open the door. So does my Mach-E. What is the experience of people here, and does it differ between motorized and non-motorized, or model years?

Have the “motorized shifter”. Stops at P and D. Automatically shifts to P when turning the ignition off. Automatically shifts to P if I open the door. More here:

There have been some reports that some of the non-motorized shifters used on the Mach-E throw a DTC when used in the Lightning. I have two of those, one brand new, and the other someone sent me, but my currently installed shifter that works perfectly and has never ever thrown a DTC came from an Ebay seller who parts out vehicles, and it was a motorized shifter with the rubber ring, and it came out of a '21 Bronco Sport. It also has the lighted ambient blue ring at the base of the knob that you can really only see at night...but that's also obviously when it would be most useful.

So to be clear, in my experience, it's more important to know what vehicle the shifter came out of rather than what specific part number it is. And I think I posted the part number of the one I installed waaay back when I did the mod, so I won't do that again here now.

I do intend to spend the money on the new injection molded version of the GSM bucket to increase the overall perception of OEM quality to the mod, and also to support the ingenuity and enterprise of ManionMakes for filling a need that Ford didn't want to take on.
